Just an FYI, there is a new issue on the internet with malware, it can easily bypass ZA firewall and install itself without asking, it's a holstic dialer, I found it with Spy bot search and destroy, so I guess I'll have to boost up my security measures, my old router/firewall died and I hadn't gotten a new one yet, guess I'll have to raise the priority on that.

Hello, First time on this forum so please be gentle......... My wife has purchased a Tom Tom One SatNav which uses a 256Mb SD card for the application and all of the associated files that it needs. Basically whenever I connect it to my PC using USB port and try and do a backup, load updates or just plain old copy files, it seems to corrupt the SD card requiring me to formt it. Problem is my PC won't let me format it (says it can't complete the format) and I have to resort to using my work laptop to do it. It's a bit strange because I have a TomTom Go 910 and I can update that, copy files etc perfectly using USB. Same with my Canon Ixus digital camers that…

This is a beta application still, so its kinda experimental, and only for Windows in English... But its nice to see that there may be a way to transfer all your apps without needing to reinstall them from scratch! Windows Easy Transfer Companion is a Microsoft application that enables you to automatically transfer your most important programs from your Windows XP-based PC to your new Windows Vista-based PC. The software will move more than 100 of the most popular programs, as well as many others that you may have installed. You have complete control over selecting which programs to transfer, so only the programs you care about will move. The software will al…

I am trying to have my computer enter discovery mode for its bluetooth. I go to Control Panel > Bluetooth Devices > Options > "Turn Discovery On" ....this is where the problem happens. After checking the box and hitting OK or Apply, an error message comes up saying, "An error occurred while Windows was saving your settings. The following settings were not saved: Discoverability settings, Connections settings." The Bluetooth radio is enabled. I have Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 on an IBM R52 Thinkpad.

hey I was just told by the techy at Sprint that robertVA's answer is the only way. I have been trying to do it with vista but it seem that they have programed it for one card one location so we have to buy more. If I find away I will let you know. The way he answered the question it seemed that it could be done but he wasn't allowed to tell me. Microsoft Media Center Edition owners ( or renters, as maybe is more leagally correct to say here in free America ) are now at the mercy of yet another lunacy, people whom enjoy recording cable for personal use are required to purchase hard disk recording in place of inexpensive DVD recording media to be within the compliance of copyright law. Is government complex? What happens when my media center license expires, i'm s**T out of luck. Depends if copyright over rules the right of free speech, and to learn and study! Greetings All, I'm working on a specification for an Enterprise-class Open Source batch scheduler, and I really would like some expert commentary from experienced Ops/Systems people. Please have a look at: http://openjcs.sourceforge.net and the specification to date at: http://openjcs.sourceforge.net/doc/OpenJCS-arch.pdf Frankly, I'm of two minds about it. Half of me thinks it's massive overkill, and the other half thinks I must be missing something really important. Let me know what you think. I really do want your honest opinion, good, bad or indifferent. Also, it has been suggested that the specification might be useful if ported to Windows (ori…

All hardware same except new PSU and Seagate 160 HD. Just wanted a smaller case, bigger drive and new PSU that would fit under my wifes desk so I could quit taking my little toe off when I walked by plus she needed more room. All she uses it for is her online classes, photos, and the net so it's no powerhouse. I built it and a clone about 5 years ago and I retired the other one and this one did run 24/7 without issue until now. I do have a dupicate board but all the green lights are lit. Soyo board P III 1 ghz 512 mhz Mushkin 160 GB Seagate Antec 400 2.0 PSU ATI 9600XT and I tried a Geforce 5500GT and an even older ATI card with no luck I have to …

If you're having trouble with USB broadband modem installation this may help. Talktalk sent me the HUAWEI SmartAX MT882 broadband modem - with both USB and LAN/ Ethernet connections. Previously I used a Sagem 800 USB modem through USB 1 at 2meg speeds with no problems running on WIN ME. I chose USB (as I had previously never loaded the LAN driver, having no need for Ethernet before when I built the PC). Download speeds showed 2.5-4 meg range. But literally everything IE6, FIREFOX was haywire or totally unresponsive. And Windows crashed at any time. I unisntalled the modem driver - loaded the LAN driver from the mobo CD, then went through loading the …

I'm running Windows 2003 with SP1 and have Services for Unix installed. After creating the share and user mappings I am able to access the share from my workstation. I am also able to write and delete from it which is want I want. The problem I'm having is that anytime I add a 7th file to the share directory - windows explorer no longer list anything. It just shows up as a blank directory with nothing in it. However, if I log in to the linux box where the actually nfs share is I can see all the files in there. Only in windows I cannot. From the linux box if I delete a file then I am able to see everything again in windows explorer. So basically I if the share co…
