Three years ago, Minecraft became a part of the Microsoft family, and my team began our work to extend Minecraft’s potential in classrooms around the world. Flash forward to today – one year after the release of Minecraft: Education Edition – and I’m thrilled to share that we’re continuing to see tremendous momentum with more than 2 million licensed users in 115 countries around the world and more than 250 educator created lesson plans in our community. Educators are teaching a wide variety of subjects with Minecraft: Education Edition, and we’ve seen particularly exciting results when Minecraft is used to teach Computer Science. This blog post was authored by Shivam Garg, Principal PM, Azure Backup. Are you still using traditional Windows Server Backup (WSB) to back up your servers to locally attached media or network shares? It’s time to take a hard look at the cloud for your backup needs. Advances in security and performance make Azure Backup a great option. With the general availability of System State backup to cloud, you can now backup key workloads like Active Directory, IIS Web Servers, and File Servers to cloud without needing a local copy on-premises. Traditional Windows Server Backup (WSB) is a tool that server admins used for more than a decade for backup and recovery of Windows …

Super Lucky’s Tale is here!
by Guest Dan Hurd- 0 replies
The Lucky’s Tale series is a diary of sorts for our development team. The original Lucky’s Tale, both our first platformer and first experience with virtual reality, was very challenging for us, but we couldn’t wait to return to that world and those characters to tell even more of their story. We learned a lot about who Lucky is – a brave, curious fox who loves adventure and making people smile. For Super Lucky’s Tale, we wanted to expand on the language of the first game without losing the simple pick-up-and-play control scheme that keeps the game both accessible and engaging. We’ve introduced the nefarious Jinx and his Kitty Litter, created a whole new cast of silly …

MantisTek includes keylogger in keyboard software Chinese mechanical keyboard manufacturer MantisTek has allegedly included keylogging capabilities in the software application offered to customers of its GK2 model. Specifically developed to provide more customization options for RGB illumination and macros, the keyboard companion software can also track typed keys on the keyboard and send information to a server that’s being hosted on Alibaba Cloud. A component described as “cloud driver” appears to be responsible for recording the keypresses and sending them to IP 47.90.52.88, with the data then stored in two different locations, namely /cms/json/putkeyuseda…

Windows 10 Tip: Save disk space with OneDrive Files On-Demand
by Guest Elana Pidgeon- 0 replies
With the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, you can access your saved files in OneDrive just like any other file on your PC without filling up your disk space. Easily tell which files are available online only or offline. Online-only files download on demand with a double-click, and you can make them online only again to free up space – or, you can select files to always be available offline. When you turn on Files On-Demand, you’ll see all your files in File Explorer and get new information about each file. New files created online or on another device appear as online-only files, which don’t take up space on your device. When you’re connected to the Internet, you’ll be…

Hey guys, not sure if this topic belongs in this section. I am not wondering if WD is catching up to the top AV softwares? I am seeing they now have "Advanced threat protection" plus I had tried installing Microsoft Security Essentials on a machine a short while back and it gave a prompt stating that since WD is already installed there is no need to install MSE, any ideas please?

An SMB vulnerability helped propagate BadRabbit, but not the one first suspected -- security researchers have tentatively linked it to the mystery group behind NotPetya. Bad Rabbit ransomware spread using the help of a leaked NSA exploit exposed by the Shadow Brokers hacking group, security researchers have confirmed. When the ransomware first infected organisations in Russia and Ukraine on Tuesday, it was initially suggested that it was using EternalBlue -- the leaked exploit which helped the spread of WannaCry -- but this was quickly found to be not the case. However, researchers at Cisco Talos have now identified that Bad Rabbit did indeed use an SMB vuln…

New payload bundled within Necurs botnet attacks allows those carrying out malicious campaigns to check if they're working and improve updates. Attackers behind one of the world's most notorious botnets have added another string to their bow, allowing them to take screenshots of the desktops of victims infected with malware. Having previously been inactive for much of the first half of the year, the Necurs botnet has recently undergone a resurgence, distributing millions of malicious emails - large swathes of which have most recently been spreading Locky ransomware. It's also been known to deliver the Trickbot banking trojan, indicating the attackers behind i…
