I have one Windows Server 2003 + IIS6 deploy-ed in a private network. The IP address is 192.168.3.206. The gateway 192.168.3.254 do health monitoring by try to connect 80 port of the server every 10 seconds. It turns out that server doesn't respond TCP ACK to incoming TCP SYN request. The Windows firewall is turned off, should be no other anti-attack software installed. What kind of problem this might be? Thanks,

Hi, I'm working on the gina, and I use LogonUser to log on users via smart cards. For the domain name, Windows API states this lpszDomain [in] A pointer to a null-terminated string that specifies the name of the domain or server whose account database contains the lpszUsername account. If this parameter is NULL, the user name must be specified in UPN format. If this parameter is ".", the function validates the account by using only the local account database. But when trying to do this, I have as result 'Invalid domain name format" If I let this field blank (not empty) I can connect. Is this "dot" fonctionnality a win 2003 issue Thanks for your answe…

I have loaded Vista on my Dell laptop and all works fine except the bubbles screensaver. Instead of the bubbles floating over the desktop it changes to a white background with the bubbles floating around. Is there some way I can get the desktop to show in the screensaver? Any help appreciated. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com

New version is dated July 9th and is 1.04.0077 Prior version was 1.04.0076 (June 25th) and misteriously disappeared from the version log in Creative site. Sorry for the dup post between groups, but thought I might try this one as well. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for how to perform selective deletion of data from multiple servers and volumes, that will meet DOD erasure standards when completed? One of our clients is not using our services any longer and has requested all data pertaining to their business, be deleted from any and all servers. Obviously backups will need to be addressed, but there are over 40 servers with multiple volumes and MS SQL Server. I have found a few utilities that appear to do this (like DODlete and Eraser) but time and efficiency are a key component and I would like to aut…

Hi, What does everyone recommend for perfmon, benchmarks, db monitoring, and server alerting for down issues? I like sitescope but it isn't in the budget. I heard what's up gold is decent, but sitescope is much better. We have MOM now but it isn't giving us what we need/want and we want a product that will hit unix/linux as well. How about getting stats on servers that seem to start crawling a specific time of day? I can't tell if it is the server memory or the application? Some apps are oracle db's, some are sql db's? What is the best approach? Would a product like Sandra Software http://www.sisoftware.net/ help out?
