Hello, Is there a way to add an executable file name (example: MyFile.exe) in the exception list of the DEP (Data Execution Prevention ), using a Scrip / Batch file / Registry / WMI / API or whatever (no gui). Thanks.

I am running Vista Home Premium, and would like to try my old S&T 2001 on my new computer. Has anyone been successful using this on the new operating system? I use it almost every day on my old desktop.

Good day, I know that every environment is different but I am hoping someone here can provide some information. I have a need to move one of my Windows 2003 servers into an FDA regulated environment, and I need to create an Installation Qualification (I Q) for the hardware, operating system (Windows 2003 Std R2) and Citrix. Does anyone have documents that can assist me with this? Does Microsoft have anything that is in the public domain and can be used as a guideline? Thanks

Hi, We had a problem with emails not being sent and we narrowed it down to the setting located in: IIS / SMTP / Properties / Enable Drop Directory Quota And that if enabled the Drop directory can only be 10 x max message size, we increased the max message size and all is well. What I cannot find is any info if we DISABLE the "Drop Directory Quota" option. What happens if we do that...are their any repercussions? Thanks.

When I click on Start and point to Administrative Tools>Event Viewer, and click on Applications there are no Error messages; if I click on System there are neither Error messages nor Warraning messages. Thank you all for your help bringing this about. I do have an incongruency. When I click on Start and point to My Network Places one notebook conneted to my LAN is not displayed. When I click on View workgroup computers the notebook appears, and when I clicked on it's icon I was able to access the contents of each of the foldesr that were displayed. What could cause the notebook not to be displayed in My Network Places? -- KC

After applying the 11 July 2007 Windows update package (Windows XP) outlook.exe appeared to have been moved to a different place (?) and Outlook2003 cannot start Word2003 as e-mail editor. Reseting Outlook options and Office repair does not help nor does Checking/repairing registry errors and defragmenting registry (by Registry First Aid). Un-applying Windows update no option. -- Hesseldahl

We have a remote domain user running Vista Business. They are setup with the Connect to Small Business Server default VPN, put there by the /connectcomputer process. Everything works fine. However, I want them to connect to the VPN automatically when they login, and not have to do it as a second step. I haven't been able to find out to do this. The closest I've gotten is: Create another VPN connection, Share it to all users, Have user click on "Other User" at login screen Click blue icon (lower-right corner) Connect to VPN created in step 1. However, because their credentials are cached, when they first click CTRL+ALT+DEL, the user name is already fi…

Is there any way to have XP remember the monitor layout between reboots? I have a dual-head setup, and sometimes (but not always) XP preserves the resolution settings on the two monitors, but it never seems to preserve the relative position of the two monitors. The secondary monitor is supposed to be to the left of the monitor, but I always have to reset it after every reboot. A related question is whether there is any way to get XP to remember/ autodetect different multi-head setups. My two monitors at home are different from my two monitors at work. I find myself always having to reset the resolutions when switching between them.

Hi, I have an XP client that was working fine, but now during the boot process it takes an extra few minutes to get past the "preparing network connections" component during start up. This machine is a domain memeber however this behaviour is occuring when it is connected to the domain LAN and when it's not connected. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had to re-install XP Home and used FAST prior to this to save everything to a flash drive. Re-installed the OS and then updated the computer to the same state as it was. i.e SP2 plus all updates. When I run FAST it starts running and the porgress bar starts moving. After some three or four minutes it stops with an error saying it is unable to continue. The error message states: Can't create the data needed to save settings. Make sure you have enough disc space. My hard drive has 90Gb of free space; can anyone shed some light on this? How can I get my files and settings back? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mighty Gurus, I have two win2003 servers. One hosts a web browser that gets PDF files from a reporting server. Previously the reporting server was W2k and the service which created the PDF ran under a user/pass that was identical to one on the W2k3 web server. After upgrading the reporting server to W2k3, I find that this Œtrick¹ no longer works. (You use the same trick in connecting an SQL server to a web server on different machines, if they are both W2k or less.) This is either a security enhancement or a configuration setting. Anyone know of a work-around? Thanks, Harry

Folks: For much of this month I have been using the latest version of RealPlayer to play VOB files on DVD. At first the video would be unstable (flickering) but the sound was clear & sharp. So I played around with the Hardware Acceleration settings until both video & audio were sharp & clear. Recently all this high quality has stopped. BOTH video & sound are now SLOW. Tweaking the Hardware Acceleration no longer makes any difference. I copied the DVDs to the hard drive but this did NOT improve audio or video output. Appreciate any suggestions. Is there any configuration change that I can make to return to great original quality of audi…
