I have a setup a domain on our test bench to test some disaster recovery scenarios. It has 2 windows 2003 Sp1 servers. One server is a domain controller and the second server is an exchange server 2003. Everything was working fine. I tested a disaster recover scenario where I trashed the exchange server 2003 and then rebuilt it again to see if I could recover it. I made backups of the system state and exchange server database. I have put this exchange 2003 server back on the test domain again as part of the recovery process. The problem I have know is that I can ping the domain controller from the exchange server but I cannot do vice versa, meaning…

Re: How do I Log in as Administrator ?
by Guest healer- 0 replies

Sorry for my interruption. I have a Vista Home Basic. I have long wanted to access the built in Administrator. I thought it is like XP Home and I could get in via safe mode. Then I can't get the window that allows me to enter user name and password. At present what I get is all the existing preset user names displayed for me to choose. Since the Administrator is not preset by me I don't have that shown up for me to select. I wonder if you can help me to get the window up so that I can enter user name and password to log on. The next thing I would like to know is how to prevent the window to show the user name of the person who last logs on. Thanks…

I have windows server 2003 x64 running in 2 servers that have the same configuration and are a part of a custer from Oracle (RAC). Some times one of servers crashes with the message: "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000109 (0xa3a03a389148f4f0, 0x0000000000000000, 0xd89a905d7b98fd53, 0x0000000000000101). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP." This situation happens most of the times in node 2 but once in a while it happens in node 1. Can anyone help me?

Hello, On a clean installation of Windows XP pro (CD SP1 - activation - installation SP2 and all the updates except .net Framework), while I had chosen French Belgium as layout of keyboard in the installation, I have an English keyboard and not means to add the other one. I have the possibility of adding the French Keyboard in the list of the Installed Services (in Services of text and languages of entry). But when I click on OK I have a bip and the French Keyboard disappeared. I tried other layouts of keyboard with the same result. Thanks JF

The fix worked really well for me... thanks everybody! One more question... is there a way to stop Aero from turning off? After every few times I restard, Aero has turned off and I have to go through this procedure again. Is this a known problem with a fix? Thanks... This weekend I installed Windows server 2003 on a clean machine with no other data on the drives. After the installation I turned on the external firewire drive I plan to use for backups and allowed the drivers to install normally. Over the last few days I've had some problems with the external drive and my backup software and went to format the drive to try to start over. It was at this point that I noticed under the Disk Manager that while my internal C: is listed as (Boot), the external E: is shown as (System). Well no wonder I can't format it... How did my external drive wind up as the system volume, and how can I move this back to C: where it belong…

Windows Photo Gallery keeps will not run. After adding a new photo folder I get the message "The following folder cannot be found - C:\ A-EG Group" and "find the folder" or Remove the folder" "Cancel" and before I can click on anything freezes and goes to the MESSAGE: "Photo Gallery Has Stopped Working". When I click to send "Send Information and Close Program" nothing happens - even after five minutes. Is there anything soft of totally restoring my system that can be done? Everything else is working perfectly and I hate to mess up a good thing. Thanks

Error 0x80240019 from Windows Update
by Guest Van A. Martin- 0 replies

I am suddenly seeing error 0x80240019 during the analysis portion of Windows Update on a Server 2003 system. This code translates to "Attempt was made to install an exclusive update with other updates at the same time". However, nothing has even downloaded. I see several posts related to the same error code and Windows Defender, but Defender is not installed on this system. Any idea how to proceed other than wait and hope the error goes away. -- Van A. Issue with Not printing in IE7, using ccCleaner - Revisited
by Guest Fyvush Finkel- 0 replies

There was a post back in the middle of June, and I'll cut and paste the contents. The question I have is that I have the TEMP directory on the C: drive. I have changed the environment variables TMP and TEMP to point to C:\TEMP. Within the Temp directory I have created a LOW directory as suggested. I still can't print from IE7. Questions: Do I need to create the low file in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\Low when I have the environment variables pointing to C:\TEMP ? Do I need to run the following command as entered here or can I run it on the C:\TEMP\LOW directory? icacls C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(C…

Okay. I installed an update this past thurs or friday, June 28/29.. This included an update to nVidia. I use my computer as a Media Center PC hooked up to my TV... Well I went out of town and turned the computer off. I did not notice any problems. Sunday, I noticed that the computer shut off on it's own while I was out of the room. It did not shut down. Just completely shut off. Well I restarted and everything was fine until tonight. While using Media Center, the blue screen of death came up and said a ton of stuff that I couldn't read except nvstor.sys... I restart the computer and everything seems fine.. then 15 mins later... the same thing h…
