Problem setting printers on W2K3 R2 Server
by Guest Mark- 0 replies

I am having a problem setting up printers on my future print server. I have tried to use DLC, but it never installed as expected (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f5a88f75-4e05-4fba-bf13-2cd53d023786&displaylang=en), and never gave me DLC as a port type when configuring the printers. When I go into the properties of the LAN connection under Network Connections, it lists DLC Protocol as an installed item, but that is about the extent of it. Any ideas what I should do or try? Mark

Win2k3 Server - POP3 service - MIME encoding for email attachments
by Guest Sam Robins- 0 replies

I'm using standard POP3 service to receive emails and having a weird problem. The service ignores (does not receive) any messages with binary attachments even though the sender receives confirmation receipt which states that massage was relayed successfully and I have no problem to receive emails with text attachments. I spend a whole day googling the subject and still can’t understand what’s happening. The question: is Win2k3 POP3 service supports MIME encoding for email attachments? And if it does then what setting could cause the service to ignore messages with binary attachments?

OT: XP seems to have stopped responding to scripts
by Guest Martin C- 0 replies

This may not be the right forum for this question, but I was not quite sure where to post it. This has occurred recently with no updates having been made to the PC. It was first noticed with BitComet, my torrent download app, which was giving scripting errors all the time. I updated it to the latest release, but the problem remains. Whenever I change view in the app, I get a script error dialog. The other thing I noticed is that while I was looking for BitComet using Google, the search button would not work via a <return> key press. This always used to work before. I had to use the mouse to click on the search button to instigate the search. …

Problem with printer setup using shortcut from another PCs locally attached printer
by Guest DannyBoy- 0 replies

Hi there all I have a number of computers with multiple users on each machine, that need access to a printer that is attached to one of the machines and shared out. e.g. PC1 has the printer physically attached and shared. All users of PC2, PC3 & PC4 need access to the printer. I have discovered that if I place the users of PC2,...,PC4 in the local administrators group for each machine, I can log in with local admin rights, navigate to the printer e.g. \\pc1\Printers and Faxs \LocallyAttachedPrinter right click on icon and place a shortcut on my desktop. I can than copy this shortcut to C:\Documents and Settings \All Users\Desktop. The idea is that by dou…
