Due to network upgrade our DC with the PDC emulator role will need to transition the FSMO role to a DC in another site. My question is this, will this: 1) Break the 2 way trusts established for legacy domains? 2) Can WINS be simply pointed to the other site for name resolution? 3) Are there any other caveats that I am overlooking. Any input is greatly appreciated. Alan

Hi, On my new windows server 2003 R2 SP2 boxes, I spy that the default ACL on all drives is that Users have special permissions like so: Create Folders / Append Data : This folder and subfolders Create Files / Write Data : Subfolders only Is this correct? Can I safely remove these special permissions? Thanks steve

when i originally got windows update on my new vista computer, it searched for updates to the OS (Vista) only. i then configured it (i don't remember how) to search for updates to Office. i would like to eliminate the updates to Office either by (1) deselecting the recommended updates and tell it not to ask again (the boxes are checked again each time and it's annoying), or (2) restore to the original Updates configuration so that it only searches for updates to Vista. Does anyone know how to do this? I've been searching and searching with no success. Thanks.
