Hi all, Windows SBS 2003 that I had to reinstall (repair) today. Reinstallation went fine, however, brought me back to IE 6. When I try Microsoft (Windows) Updates, the site goes into "Checking for the latest version of Windows Updating software..." and a yellow pop-up bar for AxtiveX appears. I install ActiveX. The page briefly reloads and goes AGAIN into "Checking for the latest version of Windows Updating software..." with ActiveX warning, and on and on and on. It is not a firewall issue. Windows firewall is OFF, and the only firewall we have is our router with which everything worked just yesterday. Services "Automatic updates", ""BITS" are star…

Recently I used Windows to delete "SecuRom" from my computer. After I did that it left some "hidden" files in one of my main folders. I have managed to drag that folder onto my desktop but I can not get it into my recycle bin. Everytime I try and delete the files I am told that the files no longer exist, yet I can see an icon very clearly stating that they are in fact there. The file names themselves look like some weird gothic writing, I'm guessing they are just left over code and that the windows no longer has a key to them, but how do I delete them off my desktop and get rid of the icons??

Hello all. After installing VISTA Ultimate 64 BIT, I can't use my printer. It's a HP LaserJet 3052 connected by USB cable. (it's a multifunction unit with printer, scanner and fax all-in-one). When I plugged in the USB cable, Windows recognized the hardware and told me that the drivers was successfully installed, but when I go to control panel, I can't find the printer and I can't select the printer when I want to print something. I can only select fax and "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" when I try to print anything. When I go to control panel -> System -> Devise Manager I can see the LaserJet two places. One is "Picture units" where it's located as a sc…

My current deployment method has been RIS. I have 4 images which install any PC I put on the network. Some have PXE network cards other need the use of a PXE floppy. It all works great. If there are driver changes I just change the $OEM$ folders and update the SIF file. Perfect. All of this is running on a single Server AD environment. This server runs AD, DHCP, DNS, WINS et al. Well now I've updated to SP2 and installed WDS and nothing works. My PXE boots give me a message about no boot image found and I'm getting a WDServer error, Event ID 769 and 770 in my event log. I'm very frustrated that what once worked flawlessly now is useless. Can anyone…
