Hi I have IIS setup on my Windows XP (SP2) machine. I am running SQL Server 2000 MSDE. I have, as far as i am aware, my computer setup with the date system for the UK. If i browse the data in the SQL database then it appears in the correct UK format, but as soon as this is displayed in a web browser it turns into american format, which is undesirable. I am at a loss as to how to fix this! I have had this problem before but cant remember how i remedied it! Any help will be extremely grateful!! Thanks Darren

Gray screen w/ no dialog box
by Guest JP- 0 replies

This problem developed yesterday. I'm sure everyone is familiar with how Vista will gray out your screen and pop up a dialog box with "continue" or "cancel" whenever you try to perform an administrative function. Now, however, the screen will gray out but no dialog box will appear, and nothing can be clicked on. Pressing enter does nothing. In order to get out I have to CTRL ALT DEL and then just click cancel on that screen. Even when I get out of the gray screen, I'm unable to perform whatever task it was that required approval. I would appreciate any suggestions

No bootup after KB932716 Image Mastering API v2.0
by Guest Gateau- 0 replies

Yesterday I installed KB932716, the Image Mastering API v2.0 (IMAPIv2.0) update package for XP, x86 (32bit). Upon rebooting the splash screen will run forever. A Safe Boot also failed. My guess is that XP is having a problem loading the new CDROM.SYS. There is no information in the Event Viewer about the reboot. What I don't understand is why the new files cause a problem when the original SP2 files have always worked just fine. Any insight would be appreciated. FYI, I copied back the original SP2 files from the Recovery Console and all is currently well. But I'd like to have the Imapi v2.0 installed. Thanks.

Windows Backups--"Wake computer"
by Guest rik- 0 replies

I have set up a backup using the backup app included in the XP operating system. I have told it to "wake the computer" to complete the event, I have made sure "run event only if logged in" is NOT checked. Nevertheless, the computer never "wakes", from standby, hibernation, or full power off, in order to complete at the scheduled time. Any ideas?

Need Infos regarding Complete VISTA Backup&Restore
by Guest Stéphane- 0 replies

Hi, I have a HP laptop which was originally configured with VISTA Home & Premium pre-installed. I just upgraded it to VISTA Ultimate in order to use the "Complete PC Backup and Restore" feature. Starting from the fact that, from start, VISTA Premium was pre-installed on my laptop, no Vista DVD available at moment of purchase, and that upgrading to Ultimate didn't give me any DVD either that I can use, I would have the following question. ==> In case I have a problem with my portable's hard disk so that I need to restore full system from backup, how will I start the recovering process taking into account that I currently have no physi…

Intel Dual Core Processors Advance System Clock When Playing Sounds Options
by Guest curt.goodhart@navy.mil- 0 replies

This is an amazing and troubling problem. It seems to relate to Windows XP and dual core processors. Simply put, playing a sound advances the system clock. I've seen extremes of about 6 to 10 seconds per minute. I suspect the problem is XP/Intel/MS related. Our PC is a double dual core Intel Xeon: a Dell Precision 690 (which has 2 Dempsey processors, Xeon 5050 series). We are running XP Pro OS 've also seen this on another offbrand PC with a Core 2 processor. This does not happen on non-dual core processor machines. Executing a "playsound" command (which is in the winmm.dll) instead of beep has the same effect (I suspect Beep probably executes a playso…

administratior denied access to local policy console/ftp problems
by Guest Help is always greatly appreciated- 0 replies
- 442 views
Documentation suggests the importance of enabling local log on user rights for iusr_computername (the anonymous account taken on by any visitor to a public FTP site) and indeed when I try to enter the site via browser from another box access is denied even though the welcome message I put in there appears. But it still says invalid port command 500 and asks me if I have permission to enter the file after setting NTFS permissions correctly I think I want to check local security policy but it's locked, even when I attempt access to that administrative mmc console as an administrator. (Note this ftp server is just on win2k pro) Suggestions please? Also wha…

Error 1706. No valid source....for MS Office 2000
by Guest chris menzies- 0 replies

I have installed MS Office 2000 onto my new Vista Business PC. I went to add the additional feature (Programs Features,MS Office,Change,Add Features, etc, etc) and when asked to locate the DATA1.MSI file, I put the CD in the Drive................but I was then presented with 'Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Office 2000'. I have an external drive on this PC, so I tried the CD in there............still no luck. I placed the CD on a shared drive on a Windows 2000 Server PC and it worked! Is this Vista being over protective and not allowing me to gain access to either (a) my own DVD drive!!, or (b) the DATA1.MSI file? I w…
