Hey guys, Just up front - This is not a show stopper problem for me. But, it does cause a little eye rolling from other admins who I am trying to get to start using this tool... I created a little script that pops up when an administrator shutsdown a server or logs out (gpedit.msc kicks it off) of a server that dumps what the admin did on the server into a centeralized database. Then we all can see what each other did on a box and everyone is familiar with the history of what is going on. The only wierd thing though is that one can't cut and paste from *the client desktop* to the servers "activity log form" (aka the script that kicks off) while the scri…

I have some local asp.net web sites on a windows 2003 server that save cookies as pages are navigated. On the Windows 2003 server, cookies will not save. External web sites, Amazon, google, etc, save cookies to that server. Cookies are enabled for intranet and internet. Security for intranet sites are set to LOW. The ASP.NET configuration (2.0) is set to use cookies and Inproc session state. Any ideas why this does not work on a Windows 2003 server but does on Windows 2000 workstation and server, as well as Windows XP? thanks

I had done a couple of reboots yesterday to install a couple of USB devices and then needed to uninstall a printer and then reinstall it. I did another reboot and my XP Pro system with an Intel Dual core 2.4 Ghz machine only displays the first DOS screen, the one with the F button functions at the bottom of the screen. No matter which F buttons I try, it will not show me a boot screen or anything else. I just sits there and is frozen. I even tried rebooting with my XP CD in the drive and it wouldn't recognize or react to that either. What could have gone wrong? More importantly what other emergency boto methods are available?

I'm having problems running some software including adobe pro 8 and Rosetta Stone. The patch tells me after I start to run it that that patch is not compatible with my system. However it should be. I have an Ultimate x64 bit OS system with all the other patches up to date. Interesting I tried for fun the 86x update for the same patch and it got the same error. Maybe Vista thinks I have a MAC.... Any fixes for this?? EggHeadCafe.com - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http://www.eggheadcafe.com

Too often I'll click the "Safely Remove Hardware" button to unmount a USB drive and then realize I forgot something. I'll then have to unplug it and plug it back in (or for my backup drive, turn it off, wait a few seconds and turn it back on) again to get Windows to re-mount it. Is there a simple way to get Windows to re-mount the drive without unplugging it? The same question applies to my digital camera. -- Bert Hyman | St. Paul, MN | bert@iphouse.com
