Chinese input has died on me. It was always intermittent, switching back to English without warning, but I've always been able to get it back by closing the application and reopening. Now I can't get it at all. Using XP Pro, Word 2003 and Excel 2003.

Re: Is Win XP disk now messed up???

Thank you Davy. Windows XP was the OS that was on the computer prior to the format. My friend would like to keep the same OS as well (besides his comp is too old to run Vista). My best bet is to slave in a new CD drive and try that. Just in case could the RAM pose as a problem?? I hope it's not the mobo.

Unable to Uninstall .NET Framework vers. 2 and 3
by Guest Ed Court- 0 replies
My "Add/Remove Programs" function in the Control Panel does not remove .NET Framework 2 and 3, for some reason. I made the mistake of installing these versions (don't ask me why, please). I can't do a restore because I will lose data that was added since the installation of the unwanted .NET Framework versions. Maybe I need to do a manual uninstall, but don't know how to go about it. I am afraid of deleting files (including registry entries) needed by other programs. Anybody know where I can find some detailed instructions? I am running Windows XP Professional, sp 2.

print spooler service problem
by Guest OM- 0 replies
The print spooler service cause instability on my Vista machine. When the service is running, the Windows Sidebar doesn't work (no gadget show up and can't add any). When I try to launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat, nothing will happen. If I stop the print spooler service, all these problem will be gone. I was told that I could have some corrupted print drivers installed and it needed to be deleted. I tried enabling the print spooler service, but all the printers are not there, and again I can't add printers and do any printer related tasks. Anyone has an idea? Thanks

Large amount memory allocated to WSPSRV.exe
by Guest Aaron- 0 replies
I am running a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server with Service Pack 2 and have recently noticed that the wspsrv.exe process seems to require a large amount of memory. While there is approximately 495 MB of physical memory, there is 1.4GB of virtual memory used for this process. I have restarted the server multiple times but once started the memory usage returns to the same state. There are 4GB of ram installed on this server. Is this normal activity? For awhile, the server has been running somewhat slow and I am concerned that this may be part of the reason. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Aaron

DW20 error at shutdown ...
by Guest Bert Hyman- 0 replies
Just did a clean install of XP Pro SP2 on a new machine. At shutdown, I'm seeing an error dialog referring to DW20.EXE, complaining that it failed to initialize because Windows is shutting down. I've found numerous references suggesting the fix is to turn off error reporting, but they all relate to Office 2003 (or later). Two problems here; I'm still using Office 2000 (required for compatibility with my wife's workplace), and the fix begs the question of why the error is occurring in the first place. So, what's really going on? -- Bert Hyman | St. Paul, MN | bert@iphouse.com

The Registry key for the construction of an outlook shortcut does not work. Hi all, I'm running Windows Xp Professional on my company notebook. When I'm shutting down the PC, there are severall programs, I don't know, if not responding, but there are messages coming to the desktop, like: ..NET-BroadcastEventWindow did not close hpqimzone.exe did not close yahooWidgetEngine did not close Sometimes there´s an error with "dw20.exe" I've already run Windows Live OneCare. The only thing it found, was in registry. It fixed it, but the messages still coming on shut down. Anyone knows how to fix it?

Hello, I am trying to send a Certificate request with ICertRequest class. When I try to send it from my ASP.NET application I always receive : "CCertRequest::Submit The parameter is incorrect. 0x80070057 (WIN32: 87)". I copied the function I use to do this in a desktop application and it works fine ( The parameters I send in the Submit method are IDENTICAL). The request is send and certificate issued. The default Web Enrollment pages that come with CA Services are working fine and I do not see any difference when comparing to my web application. Can anyone give me a piece of advice on how to solve this? Other details : The web application is deploy…

encryption & backups ???
by Guest mike- 0 replies

hi, installed Vista Ultimate this week but i've read that Vista's file & folder backup does not back up folders encrypted with EFS (Encrypting File System)... I wonder why & are there plans to change this in SP1 ??? can i safely assume that Vista's Complete PC Backup & Restore image does successfully back up & restore EFS encrypted folders ??? i've also read that Vista cannot generate an encrypted backup... would backed up data from a BitLocker encrypted volume not be protected by BitLocker encryption ??? any info or good articles on these issues would be appreciated thanks, mike.
