USB storage devices have gained popularity nowadays. However, they are always host to viruses, Trojans, hacker toolkits, worms and other kinds of malicious programs. For example, when you plug your USB disk into a computer that is infected by viruses, these viruses will enter into your USB disk by creating a file named AUTORUN.INF and malicious programs on the disk. After that, when you use the USB disk in another computer, the one will be at risk. Threats from USB storage devices to computers have been a huge security risk for businesses and individuals. So, how should we protect against threats from USB storage devices? Well, here are some suggestions. 1. Disa…

The software removable storage guard is able to solve your problem. It protects you against all the threats via USB memory disk that try to attack your computer. I have Win XP Pro, and a MS wireless laser mouse 6000. I previously had a MS trackball, and they both have the same problem. I set certain buttons to have certain functions in particular programs (Autocad and Quickbooks). The one I use the most is setting a button to perform "Enter". After the computer has been on awhile, doing various things, the enter function quits working. If I reboot, it will then work fine for awhile. This is irritating. Anyone know how to make this more reliable? GC

Hi Folks! Microsoft Fax Console 5.1. which comes with XPSP2 seems not to be able to send faxes through an external fax modem attached to my computer. It reports "device error" without further commentary. However, other fax programs, e.g. Ventafax or Faxmatic, are working just fine under the same constellation. I do not know what causes MS Fax Console to report that error. It might have something to do with TAPI interface compatibility. My modem is quite old and needs to be addressed without TAPI directly at the COM-Port. The other fax programs are able to detect that automatically or there is a respective switch in the options section. MS Fax Co…

For some reason the default XP Pro plug-and-play driver for the Targus TGR-CRD25 "Mutli Flash Reader USB Device" will not read CompactFlash cards of 1GB size. It reads CompactfFlash 64 MB just fine. Is there come fix I can make on the XP Pro side to fix this? Perhaps some registry tweak? wlp@tirebiter.com

The OS offers to send a message to Micro$oft before I can get online. Not having Service Executable working doesn't seem to harm anything. What is it, and why does it fail to start about once every two months. Thanks.

I'm running Vista Premium on a self-built system with Office 2007. My (Formerly) Cingular 2125 synced with no problems for about 2 weeks. Yesterday I started getting this message: ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. on the device I get error code 85010014. I can't find any useful information on how to resolve this problem. I've run scanpst, I've removed and reinstalled the partnership. I read somewhere that Itunes might be implicated so I removed that. I use this capability every day and it's maddening that it doesn't work and I can't even get pointed at a cause.

When I restart my computer I get the message new hardward found. However it will not install. It is on my updates (custom) however I can't seem to install from there either. It keeps failing. This has happened with a few of my updates. I have tried a few of the "solutions" already posted but nothing seems to work. The only thing different done to my computer was the floppy drive had been disconnected at one point and I just had that fixed. Thanks

I have a random problem in that periodically copy and paste function is not available - menus greyed out. Only solution is to reboot pc. This problem occurs accross all aplications but is particularly noticeable in Access. When I try to open the clipboard (when copy/ paste not available) the hourglass shimmers for ever and I have to close it using CTRL+ALT+DEL. So I can't see what the last action was. My PC is uptodate with all the microsoft updates and my virus and spyware is up todate as well.

That is a loaded question ... my theory was that it's better to get it factory installed than to upgrade, so with that in mind I got a brand new tricked out HP laptop and brand new tricked out HP desktop, custom built, with Vista Ultimate. There are serious known issues if you want to try and connect via a network with a computer not running Vista (even XP). I had to buy NetworkMagic.com to be able to connect everything properly. Also be aware that there are several software conflicts with Vista, so you may need to purchase an upgrade for software to work on your Vista computer .... for sure Quickbooks, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, et al), and lots of t…
