The following error occurred: Access is denied." and Event ID 3210 "This computer could not authenticate with \\<UNIX_SERVER>, a Windows domain controller for domain <NT_DOMAIN>, and therefore this computer might deny logon requests. If this message appears again, contact your system administrator." I have a RedHat Enterprise 4 server setup to authenticate users…

I have a jukebox managed by QStar, and the file system that it creates is UDF and i don't know if Windows 2000 server SP4 can handle a network drive bigger than 2TB. i belive that windows 2000 doesn't write this file system type, but it can read the data stored in this way. Do someboy know if i add more disk to de network drive managed by QStar, windows will become crazy when the space arise up 2 TB ?? Thanks in advance.

Hi, We have an old w2003sp2 dc 'mydomain' which gets low on available disk space. We want to replace the disk in this server to a bigger one, starting from fresh with a new installed and updated w2003r2 os, get all the users over with their home folders and roaming profiles. (The latter folders are inaccessible for the administrator) and - finally rename the domain to mydomain.local (to avoid single label domain name dns problems). Should we set up a second w2003r2 as secondary dc and try to get home$ and profiles$ copied over to this box as the first step? Does it exist good white papers on how to get home foldes and profiles over to a secondary dc so …

Hi Newsgroup, I just want to share a bad experience that we had with the SP2 on Windows 2003 Server Standard English R2. The installation was fine but afterwards the remote administration was gone. Which means that the remote clients accessing the server reacted like there is no terminal service active. We set the [x] in "Control panel > System > Remote Administration" several times. There we reassigned users that are allowed for remote access. We checked the firewall for problems with the remote port. Microsoft ISA Firewall reported successfull pass through of remote access. To verify that the ISA is not the problem we removed the firewall and swit…

We have undertaken a project to switch all of our users to standard user accounts (no administrative rights on the local machine). We have many users that are setup so that they can access their computers from home. We've noticed that when the user is removed from the Administrators group, the list of authorized remote users (My Computer > Properties > Remote tab > Select Remote Users) gets wiped out. An administrator then has to log on to the machine and add the user back to the list. I can see why this would happen, but it does present something of a problem for us. I would prefer not to have to fix this problem on hundreds of machines. Is there …

Until a couple days ago "My Network Places" would refresh itself upon opening, showing other computers' shares on my network. For some reason it has stopped doing that. If I start at "View Network Computers" and drill down from there, the other computers show and can be accessed. Anyone know what I might have done inadvertently to stop it from showing the other computers that it knows are there? -- Dale

UAC appears to block changes to certain shortcuts, such as Command Prompt. Obviously, changing shortcuts system-wide should require an elevation, and indeed a prompt appears when changing such a shortcut. However, no changes take effect, even though elevation succeeded. This seems to be a bug, perhaps only in the special property pages for command-line programs. My specific problem that triggered this post was in modifying extended properties of a command line program shortcut, Windows PowerShell. I wanted to change its layout from 60 lines high to 59. Unfortunately, the only way to change this is to run PowerShell as administrator and change the properties…

Eric - after I loaded the Windows Installer Clean Up - I looked for Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 - if I removed this version, will I be going backwards in versions? Can anyone pls tell me how to make the dreamscenes run at startup? I updated the drivers for my graphics card (nVIDIA GEFORCE GO 7600 GS - 512 MB) but still the dreamscenes appear paused during startup. My system config: 2 GHz Core2Duo, 2 GHz RAM, 512 MB graphics card, more than 100 GB free hard disk space. Pls help.

I bought a new computer that came with Home Premium loaded on it. After a few weeks I decided to upgrade to Ultimate. After doing so Media Center no longer loads. Also I have no cursor either after installing the Logitech mx 3200 desktop. It asks me what type of setup I would like and I hit ok. After that it freezes up the just closes without doing anything else. I'm rather perplexed as it worked before I installed the upgrade.

I am running XP and seem to be having a problem with the Crypt32.dll file. I get error messages that say "The proceedure entry point CryptSignAndEncodeCe could not be located in the dynamic library CRYPT32.dll" This seems to be effecting certain applications, most particularly Internet Explorer. ( I have IE 7) When I click on a link which should open a new browser window, I get a "Cant Locate that Page" error in the same window and no other window opens. In fact, I had to post this question in Firefox because IE wouldnt open a window for me to post in...just gave me the same " cant find that page" error. How can I repair the Crypt32.dll file without havi…

My main regional/language/keyboards settings are for UK English, but occasionally I need to type in Kana (Japanese). For months my Text Services and Input Languages dialog (accessible via Regional Settings applet in Control Panel) has looked like this: http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/walkermoore/xp%20problems/Regional-Settings-2.jpg This morning however, something had clearly gone wrong because the only languages available through the text input tool were EN (UK) and EN (US) and the above dialog now looked like this: http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w112/walkermoore/xp%20problems/Regional-Settings-3.jpg The UK keyboard is still there (limited w…

HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDER are not visible even though they are all there but not visible cause i can access them directly through my favourite entry in windows explorer, also everytime i've tried to check the radio button in Tools--Folder - Option--View to " Hide Hidden Files and Folder" and clicked Apply and close the dialog box it reverts back to " +Show hidden file and folder" but not showing any hidden folder. I've run Spyware Doctor, Ad-ware, Spybot CA antivirus and spyware, all come clean no problems, only Xsoft's spyware detected two problems in Registry, it says "Eventlog.exe" from HKEY classes Root clsid, and HKEY local machine, which …

I am trying to boot virtual guest from phisical disk (under VMWARE) and I receive STOP: 0x0000007B. I think I need SCSI drivers (propably LSI because only LSI is avaible when we use phisical disk). I need these drivers for Longhorn Server 64 bit (Maybe for vista or 2003 will be good - Do anybody know?). Do anybody know where can I download these drivers? Moreover how to install these drivers (I can boot this machine normally without virtualization and it is working OK)? Is any posibility to add this drivers to the system when I have access to the filesystem?
