I have read many of the articles and posts on how to change the default view for windows explorer using the command line options. I have also seen the info about updating the registry but all the ones I have seen talk about updating HKCU. The issue I have is that the default has changed for all users. I want to be able to set them all back to the original default view, which was the folder tree in the left pane and my documents open in the right pane. I am not sure how it happened but I think it was after I installed a piece of software that needed to reboot to complete the install. Is there a way to change this back for all users without doing each one at a time?

Hi, Instant search is not searching inside (ie contents of) pdf files - the windows desktop search (on my XP) was working GREAT, but after (a fresh, not upgrade) installation of Vista, I lost the index and needed to be rebuilt. The "pdf filter" is checked along with "Index properties and file contents" box, in "Indexing Options->Advanved option->File Types". I have rebuilt the index many times and waited long enough for "Indexing complete" to appear on the "Indexing options" tab, but still search does NOT work INSIDE the pdf documents. Any suggestions?

About the MVP program or any MVPs. Of course we all know these are peer to peer support newsgroups. Most also know because of that, there is no requirement or expectation that anyone from Microsoft see anything posted in these newsgroups. Microsoft employees may read and post here, but they do so on their own time. The Microsoft person that may see your suggestion here may not be affiliated with the appropriate Product Group and may not even know where to forward if they are so inclined. If someone wants to be sure Microsoft gets the message, these newsgroups are not the place. For MVP issues, email the MVP Global Administrator, FAQ 13: http://mvp.s…
