I've got an external USB HDD. When I explore it I see just the one folder I created on it. When I ran back-up software it found 2GB+ Recycler and $Recycle.Bin folders. Is there a way to make them visible, and more importantly, how do I empty them if I can't make them visible. I have Show Hidden Files checked and the Recycle Bin on c: is visible. Thanks. Ken

Checkpoint [USBd] error
by Guest Chantal V- 0 replies

After the most recent auto updates from microsoft upon restart the monitor came up black with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I tried control alt delete a few times which brought me a black screen with the following message "Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [uSBd]. After about 5 minutes a reboot screen came on and I chose normal reboot and could get into windows. Each time I shutdown or restart my system I seem to have to go through the same process. Does anyone know how to get rid of this and why the latest updates might have caused this? -- C V

Hello, I am trying to write a test hardware provider. I changed the vshadow tool to call the hardware provider using its GUID. My snapshot completes fine and the xml file also gets generated for transportable snapshot. The setup is something like this. Exchange SG1 logs on F: and mailbox of G:. I give command "vshadow.exe -t=test.xml F: G:". When the snapshot is fired, I see following event logs at the end, indicating me that the backup was complete. ******************* Event Type: Information Event Source: MSExchangeIS Event Category: Exchange VSS Writer Event ID: 9612 Date: 7/16/2007 Time: 9:28:49 PM User: N/A Computer: BRCDIND-R3-105 Description:…

Easy Transfer Companion trouble / copied programs not selected
by Guest Majkman- 0 replies

I have used Easy Transfer Companion, now on a total of 3 systems. This last time, on 7/15/07, it transferred some programs that were not 'checked' to be transferred. Ok I can delete most of them. One of them, is a Microsoft product... Plus Pack for XP. I cannot uninstall it (it starts to uninstall, and then starts the speech recognition setup dialog--- go figure). I need someone to help me with the registry edits to expunge this program. XP Plus is no longer a supported program, and definitely doesn’t belong on Vista, so I need some help. I cannot locate any way to contact the developers of Easy Transfer Companion. I know it’s still in beta, tha…

Cannot RDP to XP Pro system
by Guest Dennis Johnson- 0 replies

I've got an XP pro system in a domain. On the XP I can rdp out to the server successfully. On the server I cannot rdp to the XP system. I fill in the server name, or the ip address -it doesn't matter, and click on connect. The connection window refreshes itself and that is all that happens. Port 3389 is configured in the firewall on both systems. The RDP capability is configured on the XP system and the appropriate user has been granted permission to log on to the system. There are no policy problems. And 5 other workstations in the domain work as expected. It is just this one system that cannot be RDPed to. Anybody have any ideas? Denny

Here's an easy simple way to disable Spybot Search & Destroy so you will be able to downonload Windows updates if you get this message..... "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page". Error 0x80070020 How? Right click the spybot icon (on the start bar near the clock) and choose "Exit Spybot-S&D Resident". As simple as that. You can go back an enable it after you update. Hi All, Forgive me for asking a Windows 2003 server (SP2) question on this site, but I think you guys may know the answer. In Control Panel, Automatic Updates, I have a blue link called "Windows Update Web Site". If I click on it, nothing happens. Anyone know how to fix this? Many thanks, -T Other symptoms that may or may not have anything to do with this: 1) If I manually do to "http://www.update.microsoft.com/ microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us" and press "Express", it runs and runs and runs. I thought I would start a new thread as i lost the plot in my old one. IE7 closes suddenly when clicking a link in my daughters uni website "monash university studies online" (we are having trouble with some other websites as well) It is not the link as I can access it from my work PC and other students are having no problems I have cleared the cache, lowered security settings, run anti viral and malware scans (AVG 7.5, ad aware and superantispyware) I discovered that we could access the link with add ons disabled so I enabled them one by one with no success It doesnt suit her to access with addons diabled though because we need the java for full functionality.…
