We use to be a Novell network for years and years. For the past 5 years we were running 70 stations on Windows 2000 Pro with no issues. In March we switched over to a Windows 2003 server network. Our main DC we installed 64bit Windows 2003 SP2. All the stations stayed unchanged other than we had to create new profiles on the domain. All the stations ran fine for weeks then about a month after the switch over we had a handful of stations when the user's logged on a new profile was automatically created for them. When the server switch- over was done the new user profiles were all "U_Username", they did not show up as the usual "U_Username.domainname". When t…

Problem accessing CD/DVD and external devices
by Guest rossgh- 0 replies

My setup with Windows XP, two external hard drives connected via USB, IPOD USB and CD/DVD was all working fine. Same problem with a USB memory stick. Now I can't access any of the above - they all show under windows explorer with a drive letter, but when I try and access them I get G:\is not accessible, Access is Denied. If I start in safe mode all works fine. If I map the external hard drives as a network drive I can access them. Any ideas what has gone wrong? The PC is used by the family, I can't see any recent suspect software, virus software is all current.

For the third time, this has made it possible for me to validate my OS on the Microsoft site--there's a Comcast conflict that sends you 'round in circles until you try this. It works with Vista Home Premium, too. Glad to share--Cyn Answer Re: ActiveX Error: 0x80080296 during validation Was this post helpful ? I'm a Microsoft Sr. Tech Support Executive. So, you can take my word and try this first. WGA Error Code: 0x80080296 (Error Message: Validation not completed : ActiveX Error ) ****************************************************************** Cause: Conf…

Sometimes, when XP hangs, TaskManager show two copies of Excel or Windows Explorer, and notes "NOT R
by Guest R.S.Lynn- 0 replies

1. I have taken to right-clicking on the Desktop icon, and selecting OPEN, rather than double-clicking, in the superstition that perhaps I might have triple-clicked or something. Consider those times when I try to open Excel, and a blank document comes up, but the program is totally unresponsive. Then I go to Task Manager and see two listings, both saying NOT RESPONDING. Selecting either or both of these and hitting END TASK does absolutely nothing that I can see. Further, selecting SHUTDOWN does not work. There is nothing for it but to hold the hardware power button down until the computer shuts down. This can't be doing much good for the OS, but I have no …

When I logon to Vista, it logs me off right away.
by Guest Dean- 0 replies

Hello, something strange has happened overnight. I enter my password at the logon screen {the correct password}, and it begins to load my settings. Seconds later, vista logs me right out again, before booting into the desktop. I've booted up in safe mode, entered a new password, and it still won't logon. I've removed the need for a user account/password and it seems fine. However, I can't password protect vista for some reason. Any idea what would cause this? Thanks!

Kevin Panzke Syndrome
by Guest Karen Jane Panze- 0 replies

The Kevin Panzke Syndrome is a term used when a person has certain limitations in mental functioning and in skills such as communicating, taking care of him or herself, and social skills. These limitations will cause a poster to learn and develop more slowly than a typical poster. Former Postal Employees with Kevin Panzke Syndrome may take longer to learn to speak, walk, and take care of their personal needs such as dressing or eating. They are likely to have trouble learning in school, and posting to Microsoft newsgroups. They will learn, but it will take them longer. There may be some things they cannot learn. They keep trying. Make sure to continue your M…

Plug and Play mouse not installing
by Guest Liam- 0 replies

I am on a laptop so I usually use the touch pad however I have started to need to use the mouse for various things but when I plug a plug and play mouse (Microsoft's Basic Optical Mouse) in it won't automatically work. It then asks me to add new hardware which I click and go through, it then starts installing files from the Windows folder but stops saying that the data is invalid. The mouse works on other computers and even works before I start windows (in PC angel's system recovery). I have tried updating Windows, have done many searches on Google for people who have the same problem but nothing works.

Windows Update not showing up properly
by Guest Vlad- 0 replies

I just received a new Dell and it came with Windows Vista installed. Everything was fine through initial setup, but during the middle of the day, a security alert popped up in my tray telling me my automatic updates were off. So, I went to turn them on, and it wouldn't do it automatically, so I had to do it manually, when I went into the control panel to access automatic updates, I found that automatic updates and the whole Windows Update didn't work. I open the window and nothing is in there except the green shield icon. It looks like a bug, but I don't know. Does anybody know what the problem may be?

I feel i have poor performing and sending dummy instructions that cause some confused items. Can you remember how to find that tuning device. I am still stumbling all around and learning this version. Any comments are welcome by vista ultimate users I hope that Microsoft can do what you asked, i think is a very EXCELLENT IDEA!
