A bluetooth GPS receiver connected to a laptop with Windows XP prof. I do the BT connection in the builtin "Bluetooth manager" in WinXP and the GPS receiver is getting the virtual COM-port nr 16. The problem is that the software (Fugawi ver 3.1) which should connect to the GPS receiver can not handle COM-ports higher then 10. Is there a way to change the nr of the COM-port for this BT device ? Anyone? Thanks in advance. Best regards Martin Rådbo Teknologia

toggling preview pane?
by Guest Arthur Dent- 0 replies
Hello all, a quick question..... I really like the new preview pane in explorer, but there is one MAJOR problem with it - *ease of use* i dont want to leave it on all the time, and only to have it when i want it. But to get it on takes a full three mouse actions... WAY too much, then to turn it off again, aNOTHER three... for a total of 6! Is there any kind of keyboard shortcut to toggle the preview pane on and off?? CTRL-W or something like that? and while were at it, how about toggling the Folders pane? This used to be one toolbar button click, now, its the same six mouse actions! Not exactly congruent with the "smoother user experience" that …

Hello, after installing the "User Profile Hive Cleanup Services" my Visual Studio 6.0 (SP6) (and windbg, also) displays a lot of messages at the end of a debug session. The messages are of the kind: WINREG: Tracked key data for object 0x... WINREG: Name: \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-... Frames 12WINREG: Frame 0 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 1 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 2 = 0x... WINREG: Frame 3 = 0x... .... There were no such messages before the installation of UPHClean. Unfortunately the messages remain after an uninstall of UPHClean and even after a reinstall of Visual Studio. Can someone give me a hint what's the reason for these messages and how I can get rid of the…

Server 2000 and Deleting Clients
by Guest Todd P.- 0 replies

I cannot add a new computer to our domain as I get the message the domain has exceeded the max # of computers. Now, several older computers listed no longer exist. However, I'm unsure if we have totally eliminated them. Is there any program I can run to get the last time these computers logged in. If I delete an active computer by mistake, it causes lots of problems. I hope windows 2003 does a better job of managing it's computers. -- Thanks, Todd

Vista won't sleep with IR receiver plugged in to USB
by Guest David- 0 replies

Hello. My computer immediately wakes from sleep, but only does this while I have the Microsoft IR receiver plugged into a USB jack. I have verified this to be the cause through powercfg commands and the event viewer. In device manager, the USB root hubs are not set to wakeup (strange too that that option is grayed out for these devices). My computer also has a sleep TargetState of 4, but wakes from an EffectiveState of 5. Anyone have any ideas for these problems? Thanks. ASUS M2NPV-VM ACPI is enabled in BIOS AMD 64 X2 4600+ 2 GB RAM

Microsoft Corporation Name Grayed Out at Start UP
by Guest The Cat's Meow- 0 replies

Before I start my new problem, I would like to ask DELL-Bill B to read by previous problem "Re: XPS 710 Does not always wake up from sleep " I answered him thanking him for solving my problems. Now for a different problem: This morning when I turned on my computer, the screen that shows Microsoft Corporation came up with the Microsoft Corporation name very light that you could hardly see it. The green/yellow lights that usually crawl across as it is booting up do not appear and the screen just sits there doing nothing. I then turned the machine off. When I turned it back on, I get the screen that asks, do you want safe mode, last good configuration, nor…
