Sony Vaio notebook, hard disk crash. Replaced hard disk, reloaded XP Pro from recovery CD's, no problem. Loaded SP2, no problem. Downloaded and installed latest updates (95 of them). After reboot, found the unit could not web browse. TCP/IP seems fine, can ping whatever OK. Disabled firewall and virus protection, no change. Ran IE 7's "Diagnose Connection Problems..", returned with "HTTP blocked...possible firewall...etc". Looked at the Application Log, found a number of errors from "System.ServiceModel.Ins", among them the last error was "HTTP Namespace reservations not installed." I suspect this is either a direct of indirect cause of the proble…

I had Creative Memories Manager 2.0 installed in my computer and it worked fine until recently. Now when I try to start the program it give me clr error 80004005 and won't start the program. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and it still gives me the error. I also upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 since I saw some errors due to the Media Player Library and still get the error message. Any idea's out there on how to fix it? Thanks in advance. I have Windows XP SP2 -- In the quest for knowledge.

Uninstalling HP printer drivers

How to uninstall HP printer drivers correctly? My Printers and Faxes folder show few the same 'HP LaserJet 3050 Series PCL 6' printers, whereas I installed only one HP PCL6 Print Driver, and then HP USB printer driver. Does this extra Printer icons reflect real HP LaserJet 3050 drivers installed in my system, or driver is only one? In anycase, I want clean extra drivers or icons. As I know the driver files are copied to a Windows system folder(system32), and I really dont want clutter system folder with various extra drivers. From other hand, HP drivers is not shown in Add/Remove program list. How to solve this?

Intermittant Internet/Outlook connection problems
by Guest SFB- 0 replies
Ever since I started using Vista Home Premium, I've had intermittant problems with my connections. Two or three times on the average day, the connection just doesn't go through. Usually I can make it work by trying again 2 or 3 times. If that fails, I can make it work by exiting IE or Outlook and immediately starting it again. I know this is not a Verizon DSL problem, because my wife, running XP, is connected to the same modem I'm hard-wired to, and she has no problems. I thought it might be a Norton 2007 firewall problem, but I've done everything they suggested with no lasting improvement. It's also not an IE7 problem, because on the internet side, …

Intermittant internet/Outlook connection problems

Ever since I started running Vista Home Premium, I've had intermittant internet and Outlook connection problems. Two or three times a day, the connection just hangs up. If I try, and retry, and retry, I usually get through. If not, I always can get through by closing and reopening IE or Outlook. I know this isn't a Verizon DSL problem, because my wife's machine, running XP, is connected to the same modem and never has problems. We're both hard-wired to the modem, so it's not a wireless problem. On the IE side, it often seems the hangup is when the machine is trying to load some advertisement, on the Yahoo site for example. I've also tried to explore …

Re: Error 0x80070006 when configuring Win2K Server

I know this thread is quite old, but I have run into this same problem. The error is caused by sysocmgr that runs to install iis and other Windows components. To get rid of this error, go to the control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove Windows Components, locate the Management and Monitoring Tools. You can remove the entire thing or just the subcomponent named "Connection Manager Components". The error will go away after this point. File in Use

Don't know if this a Vista or Office 2007 problem so that is why I am posting it here. I work at a college. Three of us in our IT department are running Vista and Office 2007. Sometimes while working on a document (2003 format) we go to save it and it says file is in use by another process. If we go to another machine that is running Windows XP and Office 2003 we can open the file make changes and save it with no problems. Any one have these kind of problems? Thanks

by Guest EngNate- 0 replies

On opening Access 2007 file, Access stops responding; Task Mgr shows 2 Access app's running; On end, error message "windows can't find the file..." The file is there and OK. Log off/on clears the trouble; In one instance when I waited long enough the Db opened and seemed all OK, but also displayed the windows error message. Db is split, BE on server. Also have frequent trouble with navigation to the BE folder - stops responding; navigation to other folders on server not affected. Internet connection not affected; Log off/on clears trouble; Also sometimes stops responding on save operation & must force to exit.

Now with the reinstall I have set it back to the way it was before but now when i choose Stand By the says saving settings the PC goes off as to enter stand by mode but instead just restarts the PC with no errors messages. How to read minidump file.
by Guest Plasticman- 0 replies
Hi, I am attempting to read a minidump file and it says I have loaded the wrong symbols. I have downloaded the correct symbols from the Microsoft website and installed them. In the debugger I point to the symbol path but no matter what I symbols I point to after I run the debugger it says that my symbols are incorrect. I guess I need some instructions on how to use the debugger. I tried the knowledge base and attempted to do what it recommended but had no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve -- Steve Systems Administrator PSI
