I have Vista Home Basic Office 2003 & use Outlook as email. When I click on a link in my email all I get is a quick open and close of IE. Then when I try to open IE using the Icon I again only get the quick open and close. If I right click the IE Icon and click on Admin. I can open IE that time only. I have used tools/internet options/advanced/reset and it will work until the next time I click on an email link. It seemed to start after a Windoes/office update (20 of them). Mre recently I have unchecked the Protection Mode in IE and it has worked for the most part. however, Outlook froze after I closed an attachment. I think there is a problem bet…

RIS to WIM (WDS) image conversion failure
by Guest szilagyic- 0 replies

Hello: Recently we installed SP2 on our Win 2003 Server. We primarily use the server for doing RIS images, so now that SP2 installed WDS we are trying to get our images converted to Native format (WIM files). However, we can only get one RIS image converted. When we try to convert the second image, we get the error "An error occurred trying to Convert RIPrep Image. 0x80360051" at the very end of the conversion progress bar. The log file shows: [1716] 10:51:14: PerformingImageOperation called. [1716] 10:51:14: 99 [1716] 10:51:14: Total Progress is 0x41 [1716] 10:51:14: EndImageOperation called. IE7 Certificate Error
by Guest Tom Wall- 0 replies

Our mail server has a self signed certificate. I have clicked View Cert., and then used the Install Cert. option, but the certificate does not show up in the Trusted Root Certificates Authorities which I added it to. I have also opened the Certificates MMC snap in and directly imported the certificates into Trusted Root Certificates Authorities there. However, it is not visible in IE under Certificates. I just do not want our users to be prompted regarding a certificate error everytime they use OWA.

New Users and Recent Docs
by Guest j- 0 replies

I recently added a new user on my computer. They are limited, meaning they can only access shared files, etc. Afterwards, I noticed that none of the documents taht I open appear in recent documents. When I go to Start, Control Panel, Advanced to take a look at whether or not recent documents are selected to show on the Start Up Menu. When I do this, I get an error message saying that "access to recent is denied." Did adding a new user cause this, any ideas?

Windows Vista Home Premium installed. I have a strange problem. Every now and again when I click on an icon or folder either on my desktop or explorer it opens up a different folder or application. example : I just clicked on the Recycle Bin on my desktop and it opened Windows Live Mail. All I have to do is close and reclick and all is back to normal. Its become a very pesty bug... which doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to become bothersome. Any suggestions?

Windows 2000 Server Reinstallation of OS
by Guest GW- 0 replies

I have a corrupt Windows 2000 Server OS that is currently a member server. I am going to reinstall the OS. Some questions. Do I need to remove this member server from active directory or remove it from the network prior to reinstalling the OS or can I just reinstall the OS and name the server the same name as before and it will be automatically be available in active directory? Will I need to setup mapped drives to my clients again after reinstalling the OS? I have a system state backup for this server. After I reinstall the OS, should I restore the system state backup or should I manually install all drivers, updates, software, etc. like I would if…

all external web functionality goes down
by Guest tlachaussie@gmail.com- 0 replies

I have a Windows 2003 server that I am using to host a website. The problem is that at least once a day all external web functionality comes to a hault. The reason I only say external is because I can still go to the website using the internal server name or IP. And the reason I say 'comes to a hault' is because I am able to access the website for a couple hours at a time, at which when things go bad restarting the server brings things back to working condition again for another couple hours. Below is my configuration. External IP 1 - Firewall 1 Internal IP 192.168.111.33 Gateway 192.168.111.1 DNS Server 192.168.111.9 External IP 2 - Firewa…

Sound Loss
by Guest sylvaticus- 0 replies

Howdy, All, I've had an issue now for some time and I can't find a solution. I run IE7 on Vista Ultimate, and after some amount of time, it can stop making the "click" noise when I click on a link. It's a bit irregular I only visit a few sites, though I sometimes get a vague feeling that it's only certain sites and not others. Almost always, if I shut down IE7 and bring it right back up, the sound effect comes back immediately. At the moment, I can't recall if the whole system is affected or just IE I think just IE. However, if I'm also running iTunes, the problem occurs much more quickly. but if I'm just running iTunes, it also happens. Sometimes shu…

Windows Update Agent reports an error ID 20 : 0x80070643 : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2 (KB 921896). Unable to install this update. The WindowsUpdate.log does not give more information. The server is W2K3 latest updates except the above one. How do I fix this issue ? Thanks.

Is there an alternative to network browsing in Workgroup based (Not Domains !) networks ?
by Guest Wolfgang Hercker- 0 replies

As you know when I connect a couple of WinXP (Pro/Home) computers on Workgroup base (that means there is no Win Server with a Domain controller) then the computer directory is normally established by electing a "master browser" computer which keeps all the computer node data. Ok. Now are there any alternatives to "network browsing" (without migration or installing a Win2003 server) ? Can I e.g install a little piece of server software which runs as DDNS (Dynamic DNS) in this little Workgroup network? Or is really Win2003 server installation the next big available step ? I want to avoid instabilities in the current server-less network and speed up recogniti…
