Protection fault
by Guest sourdoh- 0 replies

Trying to install a program that I verified will run in Vista (from an external hard drive) but I get the following Application Error message: "Shadow caused a General Protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:A4C3 Choose close. SHADOW will close." Quotes are mine. That shuts down the installation process. Is there any way to stop this from happening and to get my program to install? What is SHADOW? Thanx -- Little Old Lady

by Guest Pete- 0 replies

I cannot open the windows\system32\drivers folder. If I click on it with Windows Explorer I get the following error: "Refers to a location that is not available ..." If I right click on the folder and select properties the Size and Size on Disk show as 0 bytes and that it contains 0 files and 0 folders. I also cannot open the folder in Safe Mode. Yet, if I boot WindowsXP using Bart PE on my Flash Drive I can open the folder and see all the driver files it contains. If I boot with DOS and select the folder I get the following message: "Path not found" I seem to have the correct permissions - I am in the Admin Group Booting from the Flash Drive I was able…

After installed this version of visual studio i have been seeing on the notification area the windows security Alerts when i connect to the internet. It says your machine firewall is being off and make it on for better security. when i try to to enable it's state a message box appears saying i couldn't change and suggests to change it in the control panel. I opened the firewall icon in the control panel , but i found out the firewall is still ON. I made it on and off to cancel the alert on the notifaction area but it stays there. i never saw such kind of behaviour before the installation of this product. what could be the problem. bkg

Vista Security Center
by Guest Ebrehe- 0 replies

Hi all, Recently I've bought a new laptop and it came with Windows Vista Home Premium and Norton Internet Security 2007 (trial). I've deleted Norton and installed NOD32. Now when I look into Security center, I see that firewall is green, says that Norton is open !!! and windows firewall is closed. Also antivirus part is green, says that NOD32 and Norton is active!!! What can I do? Also it seems that Windows Defender is closed. Is it a problem? Thanks
