Opps, relieve my irritation! Everytime Windows Explore loads the popup Select Skin File appears to haunt me for some past badness I've done. Of course, there are no skins in the default My Pictures folder. And what program wants a skin? Media Player? Let's get rid of this nonsense, Doug!

Bluetooth Ports
by Guest Gadgetgw- 0 replies

It would appear that Windows mobile devices can only work with COM ports 9 and below. My system had only port 9 free and i was able to establish a bluetooth active process ok. but after a hardware reset of the pda i now cannot make it link at the port level. It would appear that Com9 is already in use as a blutooth port from the previous installation and now i canonly get ports 11-20 or more. Does anyone know how to delete this com port 9 it doesn't show up in the device manager. Graeme

i have a windowsNT network (server + 3 workstations) that is currently operating with honeywell XBS 1.7 (building automation software). I purchased a new server and 3 new workstations with windows XP...i set up the new pc's the with the same IP's and they work together (file sharing shared files/drives...) however, the XBS software is not working on all workstations. The server has two isa cards and runs the XBS software, it gathers info from the BAS and runs great ..they seem to be having difficulty share the specific LAN share file of the XBS... my question is: can multiple workstations run the same executable (XGMAIN.exe)...at same time?.. CD drive lost part way through reinstalling
by Guest Ian R- 0 replies

Hi I have a Dell Dimension PC. Part way through the process of reinstalling Windows XP from the Dell Windows CD, it complains that it cant find the CD drive and prompts please insert the CD. How can the drive its installing from suddenly get lost part way through? The CD itself is pristine as its never been out of the sleeve until now so its unlikely to be a problem with the disc. Does anyone know of a work around for this? Thanks Ian

Introducing PowerShell (MSH) - Windows answers to linux shell?
by Guest Pavs 2007- 0 replies

PowerShell is built on top of the .NET Framework and replaces the old process of using text to pass data like the current CMD shell. PS is a scriptable language that provides an alternative to the manual changes you make through a GUI. It is more powerful than Perl or WSH, although those two technologies can help with automating a lot of tasks. Let's look at what PS is and is not and hopefully it will help clear things up a bit. http://www.windowhaxor.net/index.php/2007/07/31/introducing-powershell-msh-windows-answers-to-linux-shell/
