I have worksheets that have links to other worksheets and every time I open the sheet it asks if I want to update from the link. I don't know which cell has the links. How do I find these cells so that I can then delete them?

Try Safe Mode and see if you can avoid the control of this beast !. Also try to Kill the process by pressing ALT + CTRL + DEL and kill the running process to gain control or some controls on your system. In the Vista's Control Uninstall Program about half of all the programs installed are now missing the install date. It was fine yesterday. In the middle of the night Microsoft did automaticly install patches. Now, All the programs listed that are missing the install date will not display the uninstall button at the top and it is missing it's little icon on the left of program name. How can I get or rebuild the install dates back so I can get the uninstall button? This includes some of Microsoft's programs are missing the install date. -- Rox

I am unable to get my system to allow a dual boot installation. I have Acronis True Image and am able to restore my XP installation. When I tried to do a clean install to a new partion on my HD, the process went to completion. However, when it tried to boot for the first time a number of errors came up. On re-booting, I get the option of 'Earlier Version Of Windows' or 'Vista'. I can boot to XP but not to Vista (runs for a minute then crashes then tries to reload). I had no problems installing Vista, have managed to get drivers for all the hardware and everything works fine. However, one of my hobbies is video editing and all the decent software only w…

I hope someone can help me with this. I have two HP notebooks, one has XP Home and the other XP Entertainment. Both of them make "Copy Of" files of everything I do be it pictures, videos, documents, etc. Needless to say, it slows the puter down to a snail's pace. One of the puters is only a few months old and already so jammed with these "Copy Of" folders and files that I wanna smash it. I deleted them with BCWipe this morning off both puters but they are only going to start doing it again. Please tell me how to turn this "creature feature" (LOL!) off. I don't need every little thing in a second copy. It gets very confusing too as I'll often save by ac…

So first my computer loses sound, the taskbar changed from blue to grey. None of my programs can be opened without "PERMISSION FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR" and I can't open the control panel from start, or access my task manager. On reboot, I got this blue screen with the following: EAM.SYS+705a at F757E05A. So is my compute4r completely muffed? Will it be easier if I go and buy Windows XP Media Center Edition (cuz that's the operating system im running on now.) and re-install my operating system?

I hate answering my own questions but I kept searching for answers after I posted this and finally found a fix on another post. I'm going to post it here in case someone else comes along looking and finds my post. To give proper credit, this answer came from dean-dean in response to an original post by Danie_T. Thanks to both of them for the post or I'd still be scratching my head (and maybe the other end too!) Anyway, here's what dean-dean says: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- You could try this: Right-click Command Prompt and Run as Administrator. Type the following command: winmgmt /verifyrepository If the system returns "WMI repository is not consi…

Greetings all. I have been having a problem ever since I received my computer. It was new when I got it a year or two ago and I probably should have wiped it and reloaded it clean when I got it and first saw the problem, but I never took the time. Now I have too much stuff loaded on it to start fresh. Anyway, the problem is that when I add a new host to the hosts file, my PC doesn't know about it. After adding to the file, if I try to ping the host it says: "Ping request could not find host aix5. Please check the name and try again." I've tried doing ipconfig /flushdns, and obviously my PC has been rebooted. I checked and the DataBasePath entry in the r…

Sony Vaio FZ140E with Home Premium 1. When my wife signs in to her account the wireless switch setting utility icon flashes orange in the lower left taskbar. You have to let it go or OK it. Mine did that for awhile but now comes up as the green box on the lower right side of taskbar. How do I get the flashing icon to stop every time she signs on. 2. While trying set up my blackberry to tether with my sony vaio, I have to go to Phones and Modems icon in the Control Panel and type a string in the Extra Initialization Command box after selecting Standard Modem. However, the box does not let me type anything in it. Stating that to do so would be dange…

Yes, system restore makes backups of all files on your harddisk, usually uses up to 15 percent of your harddisk size, so you can really free up a lot of GB's if you disable it. Also, old restore points are deleted automatically if there is not enough space, so system restore will not fill up your entire harddisk. It's reccomended to keep system restore on on your system drive, because if something goes really wrong in windows, you can restore a backup, but that's your choice. My laptop an Acer Aspire 5100 Vista Premium had been downloading an avi file, suddenly the desktop froze. The only way I could do anything was to shut off the power, upon rebooting the error :IE 7 is not working, looking for a solution, or something like that showed up. I had to attempt power off/on about 5 times before the system booted into normal mode. In my word processor about 5 document listings were missing from the usage list, possibly indicating the system used the restore function to recover. The system appears to be functioning properly for the last 2 days, but I have had it with Vista, it's going on the shelf, I'll replace the hard drive and i…

Hi All, I have a problem with com ports and USB. I have some quad RS232 to USB converters, and I'd like XP to always allocate them fixed com port numbers, say 4 to 7, as they are used with other applications such as terminal emulators and chip programmers that have been pre-set to use those com ports. Is there a way of doing this, or is there a management program available that can be used to easily move com port allocations around? Thanks! Mark.
