BitLcoker Problem
by Guest dekac99- 0 replies

I have installed Vista on a single partition. I have created a second primary partition (2GB), made it active and made it system partition. Vista now uses the second System partition and boots w/o any problems. The problem is when I go to Control Panel to activate Bitlocker there is a Warning saying that the system is not read. The computer is Dell Latitude D420, with TPM activated and initializied, with BIOS updated to the last version available on Dell web site. When a command line (manage-bde.wsf -on c: -rp) is used to activate bitlocker averything works perfect!? Any idea why BitLocker cannot be activated via GUI? Thanks

Using Windows XP SP2, desktop. Since it seems like that I can't configuring the power management to turn off the hard disk, nor to put the computer into standby mode, while logged onto an restricted users account; I was wondering how this can be done from an administrator account and, applied to the restricted account. Thanks for your time! --

Hi, I have a computer (let's say 'A') running XP with internet connection sharing enabled so that two other machines can be networked to it and use the internet, using wired connections. This wired network works successfully. I have now installed a USB wireless adaptor on computer 'A' which is showing as successfully installed and I am trying to add a laptop (as a fourth machine) with wirelss connectivity to my home network for internet access and file and printer sharing (I am not using a router; 'A' has an external broadband modem). On both 'A' and the laptop the wireless network is showing as connected: the laptop picking up the name of A's wireless network …

When I use Google I'm seeing a lot of .wsh and .vbs scripts that are being called PowerShell but I'm referring to the one line cmdlet's that I use with Exchange. Anyone know if that's available for A.D.? Thanks, D

HELP!! I'm really stumped on this problem!! I've posted on this forum earlier at http://www.microsoft.com/wn3/aspx/notifauth.aspx?url=http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx%3fdg%3dmicrosoft.public.windowsxp.general%26mid%3dca1f7e1c-93be-4e13-b537-df27c659e2e3 Please forgive me but i figured the old post was getting pretty confused, and I am not getting any new ideas, so I cleaned up my post and summerized the problem and things tried with a new post. I also cross posted this to several XP forums, not knowing which forum listing is best, so if you have already seen it, sorry! * Here is the quick & dirty of what is happening …

HI! I work at VMware and have been watching this list for a while and I thought there are some of you that might be interested in an opportunity here for a Senior Engineer that has solid Windows experience. We need someone with solid C++ but also with some Windows Management Systems experience. We are in Palo Alto (if you live in other locations in the USA we might have remote offices close to you, so please do not let location be an issue, as long as you are in the USA) and we are spinning out an IPO this summer, so timing is excellent, technology is exciting (we are the leaders in virtualization) and your hands on expertise would be highly valued. Lost Printer Ports
by Guest man- 0 replies

I am running WinXP Pro SP2. I deleted a couple of IP Ports in the Printer Properties Ports window. I then rebooted, and when the system came back up there are no longer any ports at all listed in the Ports window of the Printer Properties window. In addition, the print spooler service now starts and stops immediately, then starts and stops again in an endless loop. I have tried to do a system restore to three different restore points, and all have failed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer drivers, all to no avail. I can not add a printer, as it fails because I can not see or select any ports in the drop down list of that wizard. Can someone help me …
