I have a similar problem to. None of my programs will open. When I click any program a message appears saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Then I click "Ok" and another message appears saying "The item you selected is unavailable. It might have been moved, renamed, or removed. Do you want to remove this item from the list?" Why won't the programs run? How do I fix it? Thank you for your time. The sidebar is always transparent, there is no other option. Unfortunately the sidebar seems easily corrupted. Try these two solutions: First: Open sidebar properties (in the control panel) and make sure the "keep on top" box is NOT checked Next: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/208/1/ Last: -close (exit) the sidebar -Goto sidebar folder C Driver > Programs Files > Windows Sidebar -rename the settings.ini to settings.ini.old -restart sidebar **NOTE - you will need to open the gadgets window to reactivate your old gadgets, when sidebar resests it will start up with the stock gadgets. All the gadgets will be there just not shown unti…

Before doing a complete dump of our home computer we did a backup. Now that things are back up and running and stable we tried to recover the back up. It gets about 2 minutes into it and then the error "AN INCONSISTANCY WAS ENCOUNTERED IN THE REQUESTED BACKUP FILE" Where does this leave me? How do I get all my files etc back? Any and all suggestions would be awesome! Thank you!

Hi, May I ask a question about an NTE_BAD_DATA error returned by CryptDecrypt()? I am working on an application of SSL client/server connection using Microsoft Certificates and Crypto API. I'm running Windows XP. Currently the SSL connection between my client and server works, but when I use IE 6.0 (SSL 3.0/TLS 1.0) to connect to the server, the server failed with an NTE_BAD_DATA error at CryptDecrypt(). This is the step where the server tries to decrypt the pre-master secret encrypted by IE. In my own client code, I use CryptEncrypt() to encrypt the pre-master secret with the server's public key. Not sure if IE uses the same functions.. Below I…

Hello Leeza, You're a breath of fresh air! But, it's probably short-lived and I would kindly point out that this is a newgroup, not a forum. Forums can be regulated by moderators, newgroups cannot. If you actually want constructive help without the bashing, go to a forum. In here, it's a crap shoot. (You just can't make idiots act nicely in a newsgroup.) Best solution to an angered response... don't respond, it's bait. (Do you really get upset when an anonymous someone calls an anonymous someone else an idiot?) There are two typical types that evoke angered tirades: 1. Those who want to answer everything but seldom actually read the post, so thei…

HI, I'm running Vista home. I'm working in a folder called "myfolder" which in the "Program Files" folder. I'm working in Access 2000 and trying to convert my Access file to a ".mde" file. When converting the program wants the name of a directory to save the new file in. I select "Program Files/myfolder". The program reacts the same has it always did on my old computer, but when I check the ..mde file is not listed. When I try to make the .mde again the program asks for the directory name and when I select the same folder it shows that the ..mde file is there. Why does it not show in explorer. Also, if I select a folder under my user name the file …

I am moving 2 software packages from XP to server 2003, for use on citrix. The software works okay on XP, but not on server 2003. The error message given when run on server 2003 is "runtime error 31037, error loading from file". Is there any way, either through windows or Third party tools, to tell which files an application uses .eg .dlls, .ocx files etc. The software I am installing is MS HIS client 2000 & a custom application.

1.Check your computer manufacturers's website to see if they have XP Drivers for your model computer. 2. Buy an XP Disk. 3. Set your Bios to boot form CD/DVD. 4. Follow prompts to install XP including removing the existing partition containing Vista, formatting the Hard Drive, etc. "rae" wrote: > what can my husband and i do to remove the vista and put on the windows > xp...He got a new computer and the vista on it will not let him use any > programs.
