Using search companion with advanced option 'Search hidden files and folders' plus a date. However when I save the search and re-open at a later date, the 'Search hidden files and folders' option is no longer checked. Any suggestions as to how I can get the saved search to keep all parameters? Thanks.

When I set up a Windows XP system, the computer is connected to our network and recieves it's IP address information through a DHCP server. This includes the IP address of our Primary WINS server. The system is only placed on our network to activate Windows. After completing activation, a static IP address and network are assigned, the system is shut down and shipped to our clients. When the systems are powered up at the client site and put on their network, the entry for our Primary WINS server still exists if they run 'ipconfig /all'. There is no WINS server on this network. If we go into the WINS tab of 'Advanced TCP/IP Settings', no WINS server is li…

  14. If this hasn't come through in my blog, I have a sincere respect for Microsoft. I particularly appreciate what it has done with SharePoint. Microsoft has grown a lightweight collaboration portal into $800 million in revenue in just a few short years. It is the fastest-growing product in Microsoft's history. Microsoft being Microsoft, it is sharing the wealth with its partner ecosystem. Yes, Microsoft routinely runs roughshod over its partners but, to be fair, it's hard for a company that size to do much of anything without squashing partners in the process. But in the case of SharePoint, partners will help to drive SharePoint into all sizes of enterprises and i…

MS Update kept telling me it needed to install KB937986 (Security update for Virtual PC 2004 and Virtual PC 2004 SP1), and all attempts to install kept failing. The contents of KB937986.log in E:\Temp were: Resource copy failed from E:\Temp\Virtual PC.exe to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Virtual PC\Virtual PC.exe The file E:\Temp\VirtualPC.exe was there (it wasn't even deleted after the failed install), and the path on C: is the correct destination. The version on E: was 5.3.0.583, that on C: was version 5.3.0.582, so the copy operation was really failing. I immediately suspected that it failed because my Temp directory is on another drive, and…

Well, it's pretty much as it sounds. After the 08/15-07 update, I'm not able to log into my administrating account due to, what Microsoft describes as safetyrelated problems and possible broken files... I get this message in a small box right after writing my password. A new box then appears, saying that the computer will create a temporary account which does not save ANY changes made while logged in. I am certainly no expert on computers, so I would really appreciate any sort of help that could end my miseries... :) Thank You.
