Hello, On the Longhorn Beta when I share a folder it seems to revert to read only. I think it still allows files to be changed in it from across the network, but when I look at the folder on the local server it has read only ticked. I untick it and hit apply, it is then unticked. If I close the properties window of the folder and immediately reopen it the read only box is ticked again. I'm getting ticked off by this, pardon the pun. For example if I back up into this folder from another server the size of the file does not grow when I look in this folder in Windows Explorer. Then if I untick read only the size of the backup file suddenly jumps to the right si…

For some reason my Speech Recognition only seems to work with commands, when i open up wordpad or notepad (or any other program I'm supposed to dictate in) All I get is "What was that?" from the speech bar. I can control my computer all da long with commands so I know it is'nt my mic. Also I know that it is capable of dictation because if I use the How Do I... command, I can say "How Do I Eat A Pizza", sure enough, on cue the Windows Help and Support window pops up with Best results for "Eat A Pizza". But it does not work with any kind of dictation, I've tried enabling "enable dictation anywhere", I have done about 4 training sessions with it and the tut…

I have two (2) dvd writers both from the same manufacturer, they come up as cd drives d & e which is fine. The problem I am having is that the found new hardware keeps wanting to install drivers for one of the drives on each reboot. The dvd's are configured as primary master and primary slave. Any help would be appreciated thanks

We had to format our hard drive that had the OS on it. After re-installing everything we discovered that another hard drive (200 GB) did not show in My Computer but can be seen in the Bios and Device Manager. It is listed in Disk Management as unreadable and Dynamic. The problem is it was placed in another computer and listed the same way in Disk Management but we were able to Rescan the disk and then everything worked fine. We tried the same process in the first computer and it still was shown in Disk Management or My Computer. Any suggestions? thanks

Hi, I applied couple of critical patches from April till now as the previous admins did not install any of these patches. But, one of my domain controller (which holds the Global Catalog) was rebooted after the patch install. Reboot command got issued, but it did not time out when I tried pinging with a -t for almost 30 minutes. So, I thought something is wrong. I tried RDP in again and could not. I have noticed this RDP problem cropping up from sometime in October of last year, when I applied patches and after that I could not RDP onto the server. I will have to reboot the server twice to get in through RDP again. Well this is not my main concern, b…
