For the past couple of days, every window I open contains this message box: Windows- No Disk. Exception processing message c0000013 Parameters 7cc31d6c 7cc31d6c ..... What does it signify and what can I do to correct or eliminate it? It started when I was accessing PhotoBucket, if that might have any connection. -- Message posted via WindowsKB.com http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/windowsxp/200708/1

Hi all, After running winupdate every computer I have that runs XP SP2 has received the same problems: 1: Reviewing installed updates thru update.microsoft.com doesn't work. 2: When viewing network connections the folder is empy and a dialogbox states that the service may be disabled althoug it is running. 3: When writing new e-mails with Outlook one gets a box stating that Word as the default editor is unavailable. 4: They also have trouble with a custom made app trying to connect to their server. The problem is that I can't find any info on the net, another company has report the same problem but no one can't find a solution so I turn to you. Ha…

Hi, To reduce the max amount of space system restore uses I reset the reg key at: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore \DiskPercent=3 To 3 as you can see, so my slider for System Restore shows use 3% max of the drive. My drive is 74.5 gb. When I check the size properties of "c:\System Volume Information" is shows as: Size: 6.29gb Size on Disk: 3.36gb Can anyone explain this? Does the "size" show larger as this is uncompressed, but it's really only taking 3.36gb up? Also, 3% of 74.5gb should be more like 2.2gb - can anyone help explain this? Did I adjust the wrong registry key? Thanks.

(Running Win XP).After the August 15-17 updates Explorer 7 will not allow Yahoo to go past 2 buttons. I can log on to Yahoo but when I hit the mail button or Compose to send an email it lights up the button but will not go forward. This also opens web sites to the point of downloading and then it won't recognize the command when I hit the download button. Even though it appears to light up the button. I also get a blue screen when I first open IE7 and it says "runonce.msn.com" in the command line and the tab says to "Customize your settings" I can't change the home page it always starts at this blue screen. What have I done wrong? Very frustrated. Can…

Youre current P4 is on the low side of speed & cache, the 478 P4 can go as fast as 3.4 with 1mb of cache instead of the 512 you now run. Also,at that current speed not all run hyperthreading,if yours doesnt, that would give a big improvement..1st,download intels processor id utility,& hyperthreading check utility, both a processor software,intel/downloads.Also,go to chipset software, download the chipset id utility if not sure what you have, that determines the speed of the P4 you can/could upgrade to. Whenever I open the task manager, the Zone Alarm firewall detects taskmgr.exe trying to access the internet. I did a reverse DNS lookup to determine the requested destination. It has been everything from Microsoft, to Esset - the makers of my NOD32 antivirus, and google. Sometimes the IP address is unresolved. Does taskmanager have any reason to access the internet? Some have told me no, and I cannot get an definite answer by searching the internet.

Mostly useless info. Go to http://www.belarc.com and download and run their free software which will scan your computer and return real information, such as exactly what CPU you have installed. I know that Intel P4 come in Socket 478 and 775 and are not interchangeable. Never heard of a Socket N. Probably there is no better CPU upgrade that will provide any real improvement to your computer. You most likely have some version of the Intel 478 with a 533 MHz FSB, the fastest 478 CPU that you can get is probably a 2.8 GHz and will show you very little improvement. Your speed is determined by the FSB which controls disk access speeds and the CPU which doe…

Hello, I have an issue whereby only after moving the server to Win2k3 x64 the file copy is failing. It is in the same environment as before being used just as it was before now only x64. In the past there wasn't a problem when it was x86. We're copying a SQL backup file from the server to a network drive on a x86 server. I have partially resolved the problem in that some of the errors that were being logged in the event log were caused by NetBIOS issues (changed the setting to use NetBIOS over TCP/IP). There was a period where it was always failing after the same amount of time but that is not not the case. the original x86 server still exists so I've …

When I power down my machine I get the BSOD with an "irq not less than equal to" and a physical memory dump. The system works fine, it's just when I either reboot or shut down that I get this. When it happens I have to hold the power button for a few seconds to shut the machine down. Any suggestions?? Thanks! Eddie G

Most registered files types display generic icons on my Desktop (shortcuts are OK, but not actual files such as PDF's and XLS files), Start and Programs menu, dialog boxes (including Folder Options>File Types) and the Explorer window. I've read many posts about this problem and tried many possible solutions, including the Repair function of Tweak UI, changing icon size, color settings and recreating the IconCache.db file. None of them has worked for me. Any more ideas?

I am getting a similar error with a window 2003 x64 server. I have upgraded my WSUS server to version 3.0.6000.374. I was able to update the systems using the WSUS 3.0 server several times. Now, on my x64 client systems I am getting the error: EEHndlr WARNING: Failed to populate ServiceStartup entries in Cache: error 0x80070002 in the clients %SystemRoot%\WindowsUpdate.log. I try to force updates using wuauclt.exe /detectnow and /resetauthorization The WSUS server knows about the client and knows that it needs updates, but I the clients are always getting the 0x80070002. I have tried reinstalling the windows update program on the clients. I …

I'm admin on a single domain with 100 XP clients and I've been getting a new error when trying to run windows update on individual clients. One year I had used WSUS for 2 months, but it failed on me and I haven't wanted to try it again. So I run updates manually on individual PCs. anyhow the error occurs like this: I attempt to run windows update: I get to the Keep your computer up to date, Check to see if you need updates for Windows, your hardware or your devices. I click custom. 1st message I get is 0x8DDD0018 The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services is not running: • Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, down…
