Hello, Do you have a solution to restaure display of text files and contacts in the Preview Pane of folder windows? I get a preview for graphic files only. The problem started after installing some Windows updates. Thanks in advance

My computer was unable to do error checking (chkdsk) and errors began to accumulate. System restore did not go back far enough to restore this function. System File Check identified a corrupt system file "autochk.exe" that sfc was unable to repair. Instead of doing a clean install, I was able to do an Upgrade Install that preserved my programs, devices, settings, etc. (see John Barnett Windows MVP). I wanted to replace my corrupt system file with a good one from the Vista Install DVD without having to do a complete install, but was unable to do this until now. hi i recently received this error on trying to log into a windows vista pc connected to a w2k3 sbs r2 domain. If i log on as a different user the pc is fine, but when i deleted the user account, recreated it using the same profile, i received this error again. any thoughts? have checked event logs, nothing there looks to be related to this. thanks

Hi, In Internet Explorer and Windows the Greek text has been replaced by Cyrillic. I’m running Windows XP Professional Greek. When I visit web pages written in Greek the characters appear in Cyrillic. If I change the encoding to Greek (ISO) then they are corrected for that page, but it’s not possible to keep repeating that task every time you go to another webpage. What I noticed is that after changing the encoding to Greek (ISO) and moving to another webpage the encoding has also changed back to Greek (Windows), hence it always defaults to it, regardless if auto-selection is enabled or not. I keep trying to install this update (for a week or so) and per my update histroy, it says it has been cancelled, so i cant even get an error report. I am not cancelling it myself. Any ideas what may be the cause of this? I have checked my BITS per other threads and that is started Thanks

Hey guys I'm having a strange problem, on my Toshiba laptop. It would appear as though my screen saver disables itself, every now and then. It doesn't seem to happen all the time, but it's irritating nonetheless. I've had to re-enable it a few times now, but it still periodically disables itself. Any ideas how this can happen?

Whenver I use WinZip, or other Vista compliant decompressionn programme, the screen goes into an uncontrollable loop of flashing on and off. The only fix is to switch it off and re-boot. Any ideas?

Hi I too am using the Winter Fun PAck 2003, to have my desktop pictures rotate. I deleted the winter pictures and pasted my own pictures in its place so that only my pictures would appear & rotate on the desktop. However each time i start the computer the program installs itself again and re-installs the winter pictures, but it strangely it never removes my pictures. So each time i start the computer i have to wait for the installation to finish and then i go and delete the winter pictures again. Windows Vista Network Connection ICON on taskbar Ineffective and lacks the tools XP version had. Mainly Enable/Disable and Status-VERY IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS for Internet Connectivity There is a work around by opening Control Panel and creating a shortcut on desktop - The ICON on the desktop. This then gives you Enable/Disable and Status functions for your Internet Connection. but, forces user to minimize Internet Explorer Window to access these functions. This problem is really kicking my ***, PnP, USB connected EPSON printer ... connected to USB port, and wha la ... new hardware detected ... let windows configure? sure ... why not! XPSP2 searches for a driver and never resolves. Asks user to check connection (after the printer was detected with proper name?) I goto the Epson CD to load drivers my self ... they load, meanig there on the HD, but the printer doesnt install ... Windows reports "Windows could not load the installer for Printer.
