Hello, I have a very basic question on XP media. How can I identify whether a copied CD is either MVLS or OEM/retail? I have a few copied CDs for our different locations and for backup that I thought were MVLS but when I went to install them they would not take my MVLS PID but did take the OEM PID. So I messed up and incorectly labled these CDs (what else is new?). So the question is this - Is there an easy way to tell whether a copied CD is MVLS, OEM/Retail? Hi, I have a problem with my Ras Client: when I try to use a Ras connection (with a remote connection made for the internal modem, or with a UMTS express card and its software, or with a nokia phone connected by Nokia Pc Suite and BT) it always gives me back a ras client 633 error. im no computer guru so dont trip. i'm having the same problem with the "Interactive services dialog detection" im currently on my work cpu so i wont be able to try what im about to say but i do have a few suggestion. please search this site: http://www.fileflash.com/allfiles/autostart_clean/ im thinking that an autostart clean program or an error repair proffessional will wipe it out. again im on my work cpu so i wont be able to try it and tell you if it works or not. a suggestion wouldnt hurt no one and hey it doesnt hurt to try right?! i wrote the programs on the lower bottom. if you do want to try this out please send me a message and ill either sen…

Hi! 1. Is there a way to increase the DWM framerate in Windows Vista? 2. Is there a way to increase the speed of the UI animations in Windows Vista? It seems DWM animation is limited at 60hz unless you run an application that updates faster. At 85hz CRT refresh rate the minimize animation is not smooth, until I open FireFox or Opera and views a webpage with Flash content. These issues make Windows Vista feel slower and low-quality then Windows XP.

My new computer should be able to play Bejeweled 2 - but the mouse has poor control of the cursor. Any ideas? I just got the computer.It's a Compac Presario. It has 2 gigs of RAM, large hard drive, Vista Premium. Runs like a dream, except the cursor is hard to control in Bejeweled 2, and the graphics are sluggish. Also in Diablo 2, when I toggle on the map the video gets choppie and the cursor is hard to control. Is this maybe a compatability issue with Vista ? Is there anything I can try to tweak ? After the automatic Aug 18 2007 update several things have stopped working on my laptop: 1) I get msxml6.dll bad image errors - this seems to affect many programs - don't know why Soliataire needs XML but... 2) Standard TCP/IP printer ports has dissappeared as an option for printers - all my previously working network printers suddenly stopped working! 3) Wireless networking stopped working altogether. How can I fix this mess? Is it possible to reverse these updates? The XML-related updates cannot be undone apparently... Is anything tested before unleasing it?

When my computer running Vista Business, boots, I get an error box that says: W3DBSMGR Error 8520 A timeout occurred during the initialization of SRDE engine. I suspect this is related to my inability to get a Word 2007 mail merge file to connect to my Excel spreadsheet as data file using dde. I have searched the knowledgebase and found nothing on that error code or on the srde engine. Help please? Tom

I recently installed a SBS 2003 server with a few XP Pro clients, before that the clients were using a LINUX SAMBA server. since the change to SBS 2003, the possibility to change file associations is disabled within windows explorer for domain users. I can change associations via the administrator account, but then this assiociation isnt available for the domain-users, this seems to be part of the profile ?! we dont use roaming profiles. any help on how to change existing fiel associations for SBS 2003 domain users on XP Pro would be greatly appreciated, thanx in advance! regards, Hans

Hello: Windows XP Home SP2 latest security updates. Using f8 to enter safe mode, pop ask to continue "yes" or "no", pick "yes". Goes directly to my personal account, does not give option screen "Main Admin. Acct." or "User Account". Have no problem using admin. rights. Last time I used,safe mode "three months ago" the choice screen was available. How do I retrive the option screen? Thank You. take care. beamish.

I work for a company that uses besides WinXp on its desktops, Novell for the servers and AD.I am having a problem with Sony cybershot camera software. I can login to the machine as a admin account or simple user account. I have to login as a admin account to install software. I install the sony software and reboot and login again as a admin account and everything is fine. Software pickups when camera is plugged in and downloads pics. If i login as a standard user, none of that happens. I can still see the software running in the task bar, and it does pickup that the camera has been plugged in as a usb device , but thats it. It will not auto launch the software…
