Proxy GPO is not applying. Ideas??
by Guest JT- 0 replies

Hi All, Having a real bugger of a time applying a proxy GPO setting either to user or computer. Publishing the GPO from a windows 2003 native domain to xp sp2 clients running ie6. The policy is applied as it should be but the computers are not picking up the proxy configuration and applying it to IE6. All other policies work fine. There is no policy in place that can/will effect proxy settings in this case. I have seen these problems posted by others but have not found a solution. Any ideas? Thanks

Cannot disable EIST (Vista 64)
by Guest Phil Pendlebury- 0 replies

Hi there, I have a small problem but I believe it may be the root cause of a bigger problem. I use my machine for digital audio work so I really need speed stepping turned off. I have disabled EIST in the motherboard BIOS. However, Vista 64 still appears to be stepping the cpu speed. (According to CPUZ - I can actually see the cpu speed halving until I load the system). Please not again: I HAVE DISABLED EIST on the mobo BIOS and Speed Stepping does not appear ine th power options within Vista itself. Thanks for any help or advice anyone can offer. :-) My system spec: PC Hardware CPU Intel QX6700 Extreme Motherboard Intel D975XBX2 Memo…

Auto sync briefcase?

I'm trying to set up a laptop for our nurses. They mostly work off line and connect to the network (directly or via VPN) to either sync their medical database with the master on the server or work connected via our Citrix PS4 farm. They have no local applications installed on the laptop other than the medical database client software and the Citrix ICA client. Only one network drive is defined and no printers (HIPAA concerns)... I've been asked to try and make some network files available to the nurses so that they can edit them in disconnected mode and then send/upload to the network. I've looked at several options, but they all seem to focus on sy…

Printing Messages from Windows Mail
by Guest Doug- 0 replies

When I right-click a message in my Windows Mail Inbox and select Print from the context menu, the heavily underlined, bold header shows the "Preferred Name" of my default email account, not the name of the actual account used for that message - even though the message properties show the email address for the account actually used. It is misleading and in fact I can't see any point of showing this information on the top of the message at all. Sometimes I send messages to committee members, not all of whom are online, and to the off-liners I sent hard copy of the messages. It confuses them and I find it inconvenient to delete the header by hand every time. …

I used to be able to see the number of times I visited a specific website, i.e., when doing a search for "Best Western" for example (without typing in the actuall address), the search results come back and beside the one that I wanted it would show the number of times I had visited it in the past - unfortunately I made come changes via Internet Tools, but can't find where that option is to turn it back on. Can someone please assist? Thanks.

Enable NV Cache

Hello, I have a new Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with Intel Turbo Boost memory. I have enabled "readydrive" and "Readyboost" in the Intel Turbo Boost memory control panel. However, when I look at the hardware settings for my hard drive, in the NV Cache Tab I get this message: "This device has 387 MB of NV (non volatile) cache and can help improve system performance. If using this disk as a Hybrid Hard Disc is enabled, the disk can provide power savings and optimize the boot and resume times of the system. The use of this disk as a Hybrid Hard Disk can be turned on or off by the group policy administrators." So, my questions are: (1) If I've turned on Readyboo…
