My apologies for breaking any protocol on this newsgroup by starting a new thread when there is an old existing one. But I was afraid the original with my reply wouldn't be noticed. Thanks to dean-dean here: news:e9%23ffGi3HHA.464@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl, that remedy worked great. All the gadgets now work fine, except it seems that the Calendar gadget doesn't want to work. . The Calendar displays as a blank orange box. Even if I drag the gadget onto the Desktop it remains the blank orange box. Any ideas on this one?

This is the message I have in the lower right corner of MS Fax Console (v.5.1 SP 2) I remember when I first installed XP years ago that there was issue with the fax console. Seems like maybe it didn't automatically install and after installing it I had to download and add a file??? Not sure, but I am sure it's been working fine since I installed XP and fix for the fax console. Just in the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that the "Sent" folder won't display the faxes I've sent and the above message is at the bottom of the screen (after several seconds of trying to "refresh"). Some of the Inbox faxes are listed, not all of them, but they can't open. I …

When I was prompted to install chinese language support, the message came up to insert the Windows XP DVD. I inserted the DVD that came with my computer and it seemed to be copying files for a while then stopped with a message that it couldn't find xjis.nls. What do I do now? I have no idea where to find this file. Is there an error free download I can use that will install cinese language support? Ed

I have a Windows 2000 domain controller I am pulling out of an environment for various reasons. The 20 desktops were pointing to that device for WINS, but now they are going to be in the same workgroup. Since they are in the same workgroup, how will they communicate by computer name? I assume ensuring netbios over tcp/ip would do it. Anything else required?

Every so often, while playing a game, it will terminate with no error messages. With the timestamp of when it happens, I have pinned it down in the event log to the task scheduler. It is giving me errors about the User Feed Synchronization. What is that? And how can I fix this problem?

I opened my laptop on the 16th and it said it had an automatic update. I was working and didn't have time to reboot so I refused it multiple times. In the middle of my work I accidently clicked "restart now" But the computer wouldn't come back up. I couldn't even reboot in safe mode, I tried multiple times. It would come up to a prompt screen, ask which mode I wanted to boot up in, and then I would select and it would run over all of the computer's information then the XP screen would come up and all the lights would go out, everything went out, and it took me back to the prompt screen. It was maddening. Finally a new screen came up. Something, RECOVERY, s…

We failed to plug in the external hard drive for a scheduled incremental backup using Norton Ghost. This created a phantom partition with a drive letter G:. Following Symantec's instructions, I went to disk manager and deleted the partition. Since doing so, the drive letters for my operating system (C:) and data disks (D:) do not show up in disk manager but do show up correctly in windows explorer when I open "My Computer". Since this happened, I have not been able to schedule automatic backups because Symantec shows the drives are hidden. This is my wife's computer she uses in her CPA practice and there is a lot of specialty software installed. Reinstalling…

As far as I can figure out this is only in my Adobe apps (CS3)... When I choose File/Open is there a way to customize what displays down the left side in the gray? I thought at one time I saw an option to use Vista or Adobe's interface but I'm not finding it now. I find it VERY annoying that the icons that display do NOT include the Documents folder. So if I can't switch to Vista's interface is there a way to customize what icons are displayed? Currently displayed: Recent Desktop User Computer Network So I have to hit user/documents to get there. Seems lame to me. Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. Thanks, Sheila

We have a situation where our deskside staff has/is installing VirtualServer on a number of workstations, which is fine, but they are installing W2k03 Server as VM's in some cases. When doing so, they are having them join the domain, which we do not want. These are usually developers, is there any way that we can prevent the ability to joining a W2k03 server to the domain but allow those credentials to still install workstations to the domain?

I am running XP Pro on my master drive, with a Microsoft Elite Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse. I also have Linux that I run on off my slave drive. When I restart I can either boot to Windows or Linux however my bluetooth keyboard is inoperable until either OS loads. I need to use a wired keboard to select which OS I boot to. Is there a modification to the BIOS (or what ever) that will allow me to use the Bluetooth keyboard at boot? Thanks,
