Hello, I have a LH based service that does this . - starts up with LocalSystem. - Launches a thread. This thread impersonates a local user defined Administrator account. - This thread launches another child process. This is via CreateProcess( , DETACHED_PROCESS, ) with a NULL security descriptor. - Periodically, this thread will do OpenProcess on the child's process pid . - This OpenProcess(Process_query_Information,FALSE, pid) fails with ACCESS_DENIED error. - This service has a RequireAdministrator manifest file. - This service may be restared while the child process was active. However, it will still need the facility to check on the child's status …

Son tried the 32 bit of Home Premium and it was streaming fine to his XBox360 - status bar on 360 showing around 9. He decided to go 64 bit ( I've got his 32 bit as he never activated it) and now he's only getting a status bar of around 2 and the picture is very jerky and blocky. Anyone got any ideas as to why this would happen? He can still download at well over 200Kb so I'm guessing this isn't a network related problem? cheers, Len

Win SBS 2k3 Standard. My A/V occasionally flags files in this folder (C:\D&S\All Users\App Data\MS\... )as infected but does not specify the infection. I had questioned my local gurus at one point and was told to not worry about it. Files are usually deleted when found, before I know about it. Had one show up today, couldn't disinfect or delete so quarantined it. I'm trying to read up on what this folder is for, and will be submitting file to A/V company for research, but thought I'd post questions here concurrently. What is this folder for? Should I even be scanning this folder or should I exclude from A/V scan? Should I be *extremely* worried or just worried…

NOTE: Yes, I posted this somewhere else a few minutes ago. Just blame the MS->news site and let it go... I worked on two PC's in the last 2 weeks with this problem. The first was Thursday the 14th, the second was earlier this week. I sent them both home working after doing a dirty/repair install of Windows XP. I just got a call from one of the users(who has dedicated internet access) and the problem is back as of this morning. Looking in Add/Remove programs, it seems Windows downloaded a slew of updates and installed them early this morning. As before, the programs run OK in safe mode. These are both XP Home systems. This problem affects NEARLY …

I have a Vista box that is in a domain that I'd like to remotely log into. I am able to log in remotely from XP Pro boxes whether or not the clients are in the domain or not. I have a Vista box that I am trying to use as a client as well. When I attempt to do so, I receive a Windows Security dialog stating "Your credentials did not work". I am using the same fully-qualified username and the same password that works from XP clients.

Is there a utility around that can show if an executable has the embedded Vista execution level attribute? I want something that runs on XP, to check post build modules, pre- testing. Thanks, Dave.

Hi: I have an STMP and POP3 Service running on a Windows 2003 server. I have setup a few accounts under one of the domains hosted on the server. What I would like to do is setup a forwarding script/program/task that would forward mail addressed to a certain account to another individual email address that is not hosted on the server, such as: Mail to joe@smith.com is sent to jane@yahoo.com In this example smith.com is hosted on my server. I do NOT want to setup a generic forward for the whole domain to another SMTP server. Thanks.

Hi, How do Windows Update Agent check for when a reboot is pending. I have a lot of clients which needs to be rebooted, for WSUS to know that the lastest patch are installed. I have checked kb832475 regarding: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\UpdateExeVolatile and none of the clients have any of these registry keys.
