Hello, I have a small problem with Vista Game Explorer. When I play a game, VGE adds it automatically, however, much of the information is missing. I have activated that VGE should receive information from the internet, however, it doesn't do anything. When I go into the registry and click on the key of the game (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\S-1-5-21-3720882424-4191289245-2590254124-1000\{ED82E993-B834-4FD9-B86D-338DBADED197) I see the following: Standard AppExePath ApplicationId ConfigApplicationPath ConfigGDFbinaryPath ConfigInstallType This is the same for all the games VGE automatically add. However, I…

I have a satellite receiver who will not automatically switch on when you start sending it a channel number over the IR blaster. I saw some remarks to the effect that Media Center would not be able to detect on/off state, but at the same time setup is quite capable of finding on which connector the receiver is sending its signal, so there you are: When you want to change/select a channel: 1) Check your known input for presence of a signal 2) a- Signal there, proceed b- no signal, send on/off code, wait a sec or three c- when in doubt, assume all is ok 3) now start sending channel number Simple, I'ld say. If I had the source I would take a shot a…

I just got my new computer, and am really pysched about the sidebars in vista, but they've changed on me....somehow. I don't have the same options available as I did about an hour ago. For example, my clock changed, it was a world map, now I can't get that back, I can't choose between digital or analog, I also can't change how I view the slideshow, like landscape or portrait sized. Any suggestions?

Folks, I am not sure if this happened just after installing the recent patches, or after a recent upgrade from IE6 to IE7. Symptoms: file access seems to be much slower than normal, particulary in directories with a large number of files. I've tried turning off the ZoneAlarm and the CA Anti-Virus, but it doesn't make any difference. Both local and network file access seem slow. Looking at a remote PC which is being accessed over the network from my PC, when you do a directory access, CPU usage on the remote PC shoots up to near 100%. It is as if, perhaps, instead of looking up just information for one file in a directory, the whole directory is being scan…

A week ago became unable to access Microsoft IE. Have used Windows XP Version 5.1 for 3 years. Getting errors; one being: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". I may have tried to change something in the system, but not able to pinpoint what I may have done to correct. Also same with trying to open Icons on Desktop if connected to IE. Also have printer issues. I have an HP DeskJet 600C. Cked printer, it printed a test page ok. Unable to print anything except some items off Yahoo Email. I know a little about computers but need help from an expert. Thanks....
