I have individual and a shared calendar set up on our system. Is there anyway to link calendar entries creates in a personal calendar to the same entry in the shared calendar so that if one entry is edited or deleted then the duplicate entry in the shared calendar is also edited without having to go in and edit the two manually.

The Latest August updates for Office 2003 (KB940602, KB936643 and KB936048) will not install on Vista. I have several error messages 80246007, 800070643 and 80080008. The first one refers to BITS and has been started as Automatic (Delayed) the second refers to the Office Source engine and has also been started as Automatic (Delayed), as per default. The third is a mysterious beast and refers to an application that has been opened and closed to many times in quick succession. All of the KBxxxxxxx updates have been manually downloaded and attempted to install but the Installation application tells me "It is unable to install these Updates" I…

I too have spent countless hours trying to fix this problem. I read neile's post and it worked perfectly. Including setting the permissions. Oh and I think he ment that the next attempt to install V2 worked not V6. I will never know if just setting permissions would have worked, but as posted it works! Neile...you are the man! USB Audio driver problem
by Guest aggress- 0 replies
I'm using a Generic USB Skype phone, which work fine except a problem of it's driver. Once I plug the USB, Windows find my phone and assign the driver "Generic USB Audio device" for it, I can set to use this device in my Skype, but it also become the default audio device for my windows, all other sound come out from this device. I go to control panel, switch back to use SoundMAX as default. But problem persist after windows reboot. Everytime the USB audio device is plugged or plug before boot, the default Audio device will change to Generic USB Audio device automatically. Anyone can't tell me how to set the default audio device to SoundMAX?

We recently ran ntbackup on a Windows 2003 x64 server, and backed up the (system) C: drive and systemstate. Then we used ntbackup to restore this data onto an external drive (F:) with the intent of using it as a boot device replacement for our C: drive. (Yes we know other changes would be needed to F: before attempting this.) However, when we checked the restored data on the second drive, registry files in F:\WINDOWS\system32\config were missing. Also, when starting the restore, we receive the warning message: "Not all system state data will be restored when re-directed to an alternate location. This is an advanced restore option which may aid in recovering spe…

Resume from hibernation often fails....
by Guest David- 0 replies

by shutting down after teasing me with bringing up the desktop for a few moments. so instead of a 30 second resume, i end up with 45 seconds of "pretend" resume, followed by shutting down (another 30 seconds) and a restart of 2 minutes. Hardly efficient! Any ideas why resume often fails? I've got the latest (today) updates--this has been going on for a couple of months. Dave

Scanner buttons don't work
by Guest crap@daryllafferty.com- 0 replies

I've done lots of searching on Groups without any solution. Windows 2000, SP4. I have an Epson Perfection 3170 scanner. There are 4 function buttons on the front that used to automatically scan, copy, etc. They suddenly don't work. I have reinstalled the scanner twice. I have checked the settings in Control Panel/Scanners and Cameras. I ran sfc /scannow to make sure my Windows system files were still OK. I ran SysInternals Process Monitor. When I push the scan button, a thread is being created for stisvc.exe. But all the thread does is RegCreateKey, RegQueryValue (4 times), RegCloseKey, and Thread Exit. The query values look right. They reference HKL…

MOV Files from Olympus Cammedia impacting performance
by Guest matt- 0 replies

Help: I have transferred a number of .MOV files from my Olympus camera. I can play the videos via a number of readers/players. However when I view the files via explorer, Vista file system or my Olympus master software, the hard drive churns away and 'program not responding appears'. It appears as if the system is trying to individually read each movie before its displayed. Photographic images without .MOV files within these directories appear immediately (I have indexing turned off). Eventually each .MOV thumbnail appears but this can take 20+ minutes if there are several movies in the folder. Removing QuickTime from my machine resolves the problem comple…

TV tuner performance in 64bit

I've read a couple different threads on this, never really found a straight answer to the question: Is there any ADVANTAGE to running an HTPC with Vista64? In other words, is the media center app coded to take advantage of the big addressing or no? Thanks!

Unexpected Shutdown (Incident 999)
by Guest C. Britton- 0 replies

Mine all started on 6/30/07 and it has happened 13 times since then including today 08/14/07. I have checked everyhting I can think of to see what is going on to no avail. The only clues I have are as follows: I checked the Vista Reliability Monitor and it shows all the "unexpected shutdowns" as OS Failures. I have been a 20+ year supporter of Microsoft but I must say this is getting to be too troublesome to put up with. Anytime I find the same problem mentioned over and over with a new OS it indicates a built in flaw. It is time for someone in Redmond to get off their duff and put out a fix for this fup. performance logs not writing to disk
by Guest rschatz- 0 replies

I have Windows Server 2003 and am monitoring with a counter log. I should be able to look at the current log even while it continues to add data. I was able to do this before. However, I wanted to change something in the log - remove a couple counters - so I changed that and then waited. Even though it is running and adding an entry every 5 minutes, it does not seem to actually write out to the file. I stopped the counter log and restarted it to see if that would fix it. After I stopped it, the log file did have data in it. The new log that was started still does not have any data in the file after a day. What's going on here? I don't want to have to stop the moni…

VISTA Enigma
by Guest Superfreak3- 0 replies

I should first start off by saying, I'm still in the midst of testing, but here is what appears to be happing with our application installation process and subsequent update process(es) on Vista... We have and installation that we attempt to install as a Standard User with UAC enabled. We supply Admin credentials, and the installation appears to go through without incident. The installation writes stuff all over the board, but of particular interest or involvement in my current situation is an .ini file that holds version information and it created/updated in the installing users Application Data profile area. Like I said, all appears fine until we hit the…
