Hi guys, I'm trying to enable BitLock on a Compaq 6515b notebook which has built-in TMP 1.2. There are 2 partitions on it, one is 2GB and another is 30GB (both of them are primary partitions). The Vista Ultimate 64bit is installed on the 30GB partition. All drivers including TPM drivers are installed correctly and the notebook works quite well. But when I try to turn on BitLock in Control Panel, there is always no volume available for BitLock. Is there anything wrong with my settings? Thanks a lot. -- Regards, R. Yang

I'm trying to install the Server 2003 R2 admin tools, namely the File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) on my server and I'm getting this error: "The version of Windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install." I'm positive this has something to do with SP2 for Windows Server 2003 R2. I have a couple other file servers that I installed the FSRM on before upgrading to SP2 and it worked fine (still does). I also know this isn't specific to one server in my environment because I tried to install on two other R2 SP2 servers and got the same error. I did an internet search and found something about running adprep on the domain contr…

Ever since half a year ago when I changed my Desktop image to a Photograph, I've had some issues with my background. When I changed the to the Photograph originally, it completely slowed down my computer, and consumed a high CPU. Then when I shut down the computer, the image woud take a couple of minutes to dissapear, and when I booted up, and logged in, the computer would freeze on the image. Sometimes the taskbar would load, but I couldn't use the computer. Instead I had to restart, then log into the other account (which I never use), boot up, log out, to log into my account. It then took a week after I changed the image to one of the Windows' own choice of b…

Have a customer rolling out thousands of PC's using XP SP2 with .Net Framework Ver 1.1 installed and a custom application built for 1.1. They have rolled out their first 50 all using the same sysprepped image. Some of the units out of the box would not run their custom application and other ones appeared to work at first but the application would stop working after a reboot some time later. Customer gave me a unit where the application is working as expected and one where it no longer functioned. I have determined that the perfc009.dat file located in C:\windows\system32 appears to be causing the issue. To repair the unit I can do one of 3 things: 1) Rep…

I have some small graphic bugs - I guess its because of the "Vista pre SP1 syndrome", but maybe not.. So, does anyone here has the following bugs: In Internet Explorer, the windows desktop overlays the web page. It is rare, but happens. Usually after I minimize the browser window, and maximize it again, or shortly after using Flip 3D. As fair as I see, this occurs only with activated AERO. The effect goes away, after I minimize and maximize again. Again in IE7 - the mouse cursor jumps when I click on a link. This happens very often. It doesn't jump all over the place, the effect is more like like flickering. It stops after the page is loaded. Office X…

I have finally found some time to do what was suggested to me some time ago in this forum at http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware/browse_thread/thread/a396f27bcf1ac98f/c744ba1b095e79cd?lnk=st&q=no_spam_paquette&rnum=10#c744ba1b095e79cd but, unfortunately the problem remains unresolved. If anyone has any further suggestions in light of my exclusion of the off/on switch and my posting of the BIOS power-management settings, I would be deeply grateful.

Not sure when this started, but I'm seeing this on a couple servers, been at least a week. "MSDEWriter" has reported an error 0x800423f0. Contacted MS, they are suppose to email be a hot fix... Got it and it reports that the SP is newer than the hot fix... Anyone else seen this and fixed it? -- Leythos - Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum. - Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist" spam999free@rrohio.com (remove 999 for proper email address)

Hi: I've recently bought an "XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" and no matter what I've tried, it won't work. The driver (I use the latest version 1.1) doesn't install properly, so I cannot synchronize the controller with my windows xp sp2 setup. The device works perfectly on another two PCs, so I know it's not broken. The technical specifications of the PC in which doesn't work is as follows: -Mainboard ASUS P5B with the latest official BIOS installed. -CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 2.13GHz -Memory 2GB RAM DDR2 667MHz -Wireless PCI Card DLINK DWL-G520 -Both: Keyboard and Mouse are not wireless (PS/2 Standard) Software: -Windows XP SP2 with the latest…

Dear All, I have a little problem. We decided to use the MS VPN Client to connect our employees to our network, because it's "build in" and the computer will be full managed logged to the network while using a RAS connection. Our Structure is a 3rd Party Firewall Appliance, MS RAS, RADIUS and Certificate Server. Also we use MS SMS 2003 to deploy software updates. Problem: The MS VPN Client cames always with the same MAC Address, to connect to the RAS-Server. In this case it is impossible to set an ip-address reservation within the DHCP server. So the VPN Client changes it's IP with each new connection. Our SMS 2003 Server will recognize each new IP A…
