Hello, First of all, Under XP SP2 Pro (version 2002), i didn't understand how weird is that situation. If i auto-logon XP without prompting password, although my physical connection is fine (verified, i can browse fine, LED lights) i always get "network cable unplugged" after every BOOT-UP in XP. Never had that problem with the same drivers and hardware configuration under W2k Pro. The XP installation is clean and tried all of things such as trying different CAT cable or repairing Winsocks or adjusting IP settings. The only solution is putting password prompt before XP. I didn't had that issue on another computer which runs in auto-logon mode. …

Hi, Got a strange problem. Each time I start my computer, Power point start too, but with an error message, this problem appears for each user configured in the computer. I have verified in each startup of the users, nothing about PP, I also verified in MSCONFIG, nothing too, and I didn't find any special stuff in the registry. Any idea ???

I am hosting Microsoft Navision on several W2K3 terminal servers and my problem is that within Navision the users have access to Jet Reports. To enable the users to scheduled reports they need access to scheduled task however they always get Access is Denied when they try and open scheduled tasks. If I elevate their rights to administrator this problem goes away but obviously this is not an option for me. I have looked within the GPO section for the task scheduler to see if this will help me but I seem unable to find a setting or settings that work. Has anyone any idea how I go about giving a standard domain user access to task scheduler without giving the…

I tried to load new NVIDIA drivers on my machine and keep failing during the install. This happens no matter what version video driver I try to install. I even used Driver Cleaner Pro to ry and make sure all NVIDIA driver data was removed from my system. So I opened up regedit.exe and started searching for and deleteding all occurences of the phrase NVIDIA. When I got to a specific key, thie key would not delete. I could not open the key or change the key'e permissions. This key was HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation. What can I do to remove this key? I think this is what is causing my install to fail.

I had an event on my XP system that just popped up a text file. If the system was not on at the appointed time then it would start when the system was started. If the text file was closed it would keep reopening every 5 minutes. (If it was already open it wouldn't open another.) I would use this as a monthly reminder. When I was done with it I would reschedule it to start next month. I've tried to do the same thing in Vista but it won't. It runs if the system is on, but doesn't start it on system-start if it was missed. Nor does it restart if I close the text file. I have it scheduled to start one time on a given date. I have the check box for start on system-…

Is it possible to create and enforce my own port rules via GP (local or domain) on XP's firewall (SP2)? I'd like to open a few specific non-standard ports but still let the firewall handle everything else. Example: -allow port 5555 from any source

howdy, Reading files from one of my Win2003 servers fail intermittently during the business day -- and I see this 'STATUS_INSUFF_SERVER_RESOURCES' error, packed into a Read AndX Response, during file copies which fail from graphing disk latency and disk queue parameters from PERFMON, i can see that the disks are struggling throughout the day would anyone have pointers on where i could go to research what 'STATUS_INSUFF_SERVER_RESOURCES' means? like, what particular OS buffer or queue is starved for space? --sk stuart kendrick fhcrc

This one has me baffled. I began troubleshooting a server and quickly noticed that the system volume (C: drive) only had 3Kb free space. When I tried to remote desktop to the server to navigate around and possibly free up some space, I was greeted with a half-displayed logon window. After blindly logging in, here are some things that I done I managed to free up over 700Mb on the drive I re-installed the RDP client (v5.1.2600.2180) on the server. I installed the latest RDP client (v6.0) on the server. Still have the same issues - any other RDP session to other servers displays fine for me. Any ideas?

I'd post this to the DPM newsgroup but it isn't showing up in my list of available groups right now. I have a small network with 2 servers. I have a DPM 2005 disc. Server1 is a file server and DC ("PDC" role holder actually). Server2 is a redundancy and backup server ("BDC", and tape backups). It also stores the boss's non-business files (mostly mp3's, video's and pics). Both servers serve DHCP, DNS and WINS, but no databases or exchange (yet). Both servers are Server 2003 R2 SP2. We normally backup up around 36GB of critical data (includes system states). We would like to have full backups in the future (about 140GB), but we need a new tape drive for that. …
