I use a DWF viewer (by autodesk) and all of a sudden yesterday all the DWF file type extensions have the windows explorer icon instead of the DWF icon. I've tried to change these in Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>File Types>Change Icon without success. What will it take to get these to the proper icon? This has happenend in ALL folders and all files with a .DWF extension. I'm running XP SP2 Thank you

I have a user that just had her machine reimaged. Now she says that some of her bookmarks in IE 6, for Chinese sites are not in Chinese anymore. I have the Chinese sites showing up in Chinese but it seems I can not find any info on Bookmarks being in mutiple languages at one time. Any body know anything about this? On the same user she also said her some folders which came from China, viewed in Windows Explorer, used to be in Chinese also and now just show a line. I do not know any thing about languages in XP so any help would be appreciated. Dloj

Is there another way to map an lpt port to a local printer other than the syntax below? net use lpt1 \\%COMPUTERNAME%\MyPrinter (where MyPrinter is setup as a Shared Printer). Sometimes this does not work because it cannot find the computername. It there some other name I can use that defines the local PC's printer. John

The FunctionMapper callback API in profiler is working fine in the 32 bit profiler. This feature is very useful to us because it can map a functionID to a FunctionInfo pointer so that the callback from a function enter will return a pointer to the FunctionInfo in the m_pfunctiontable directly. It will save time instead of doing a lookup by function id. However, when I port our .Net profiler to 64 bit. This feature seems to be gone. It can only return the functionID even though we have mapped the function ID to pointer address by using this API ProfilerCallback::FunctionMapper. Question? Is the feature for function mapping in 64 bit .net profiler inter…

I have a Windows Vista desktop. I RDP into many servers 2000, 2003 x32 and x64. I have one server 2003 SP2 R2 Enterprise Edition x64 build 3790.srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710, when I or anyone RDP's into this server from a Vista computer the session is very slow. The screen refreshes fine, but a mouse click takes several seconds to reatct. I've found that if I run a "netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled" command on my Vista box the RDP session works fine. RDP from XP is also fine. I don't know why this is the only server I'm having problems with. I have one other 2003 SP2 R2 Enterprise x64 server and its build number is 3790.srv…

I had a problem with my dual monitors last month and Michael Solomon suggested that I uninstall the video driver and then install the latest drivers for my nVidia 7900 GeForce GS. I did this and then both monitors worked fine and the display properties control panel listed 2 monitors again. But after several days, the left monitor stopped working and the display properties reverted back to 1 display only. So I uninstalled and then reinstalled the latest driver and both monitors worked and the display panel showed the correct number of monitors until this morning. Now I'm back to only one monitor working and the display properties panel is showing onl…

Hi, I am using Toshiba Bluetooth dongle. I tried to discover the bluetooth enabled devices using WSALookupServiceBegin, WSALookupServiceNext methods. WSALookupServiceBegin method returns -1. I tried discovering the devices using BluetoothFindFirstDevice and BluetoothFindNextDevice methods. It returns the error code 126(module not found) The dongle has Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba. and not the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. Can anyone please through some light on this issue? Can I use these methods to get the devices or should I use the SDK/API provided by Toshiba? Thanks in advance Sri

Sometimes on it's own or after it's been on a screen saver/powered down screen through a night, I move my mouse to wake up the computer and all that comes up is a blank screen with the words "NO SYNC". Sometimes I hear the computer working like it's stuck, sometimes I don't hear it working at all. I usually have to hold the power button down for restart for the screen to start working again.
