Is it possible to force a 3D rendering application to send the rendered data to video overlay? Normally a 3D application prepares a scene and the CPU sends the scene including textures to the video card (3D accelerator / GPU). The GPU renders the scene into an image and sends it back to the CPU. Finally the CPU sends the rendered image back to the video card (this time addressing the video render). the good side: rendered images are accessible to CPU the bad side: the rendered images travel to video card and back consuming a lot of bandwidth. This also results in delay, and reduced frame-rate performance. If video overlay is used, the images are se…

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but here goes. I Have an old Dell 266 running W98FE and for some reason I can not get any sound from Windows Media Player 7.1. It is not Muted and the volume slider is at Max. Other audio players (Real, IfranView, and Musicmatch) work great. I did have some major Bootup problems a few weeks ago and through blind luck I got the computer working by reinstalling Windows over top of it's self(a no-no) Which I had to do a second time and then run Windows RegClean to get it to Boot. Restore would not solve the problem. I did re-install WMP7.1 and I have scanned my computer with AVG, AdAware, Spybot, an…

I have an NT4 server running Exchange 5.5 in a Server 2003 interim mode AD domain. Just today, the server started experiencing issues that make me think its related to the computer account or secure channel between the server and the domain. When I try to start services sch as Exchange services, which run under a domain account, I get error: 2140 An internal Windows NT error occurred. If I reboot, I get the same issue. I checked DNS, and I'm only using internal DNS servers. I have my hosts and lmhosts setup just fine with all the proper entries which worked fine for years and has not changed. I am thinking about joining the server to a workgroup an…

"Have DVD+/- Drive and using Live File System, Version 2.01 to copy files as routine backup. But it’s not working for me at present and I am getting increasingly frustrated!! Trying to save a folder containing 20.3MB of photos to a CD-RW which has 295MB of free space. The “Burn a Disc†Dialog box comes up with live file system as default. When I click on “Next†I get "Warning! Formatting will erase all data on this disk", with the alternatives to click OK or Cancel. So I cancel, not wishing to lose valuable files already saved! Previously I successfully saved a folder containing 5.53MB of photos to the same disk plus other files. So why not t…

Thanks for help on Cd's - message on that post but, one you may be able to help with for a chap across the water from you in Watchet. This win2kpro machine has a couple of 16bit applications (Corel 5 is one) and when using the 'file open' command, there are no drive letters shown in the drive box. If full path typed into file name box, finds file OK. All other programs with 32 bit use a different file open box and are fine. Tried old registries and no difference. Do you know what files/dll/reg entries control this 16 bit open box and how they find drive lists??? Just a nuisance fault but would love to find what caused it!!!!!

Good afternoon all. Here is my issue. I have a Windows 2003 server with the latest service packs and hot fixes running in a Windows 2000 domain managed by a SBS2000 installation. The server works fine, it runs as a Terminal Server onto wich a number of users centrally run an accounting application along with MS Office and other applications. The issue is related to the accounting application when printing and connecting to the local fax service configured. If the fax is sent and the destination number is dialed in manually into the fax wizard, eveything works fine. The wizard ends, the fax is sent and the control gets back to the accounting application whic…
