Dears, some time when I connect to a corporate network via VPN and need access to a shares I'm asked for an authorisation. After the authorisation recieve this message "Logon unsuccessful: The user name you typed is the same as the user name you logged in with. That user name has already bee tried. A domain controller cannot be found to verify that user name." Some time I could access without any problem. Could someone advice what could make the problem. It concerns only file shares. Other communication like mail is working withou any problem. Thanks Jiri

Is there a hardware compatibility list showing which digital voice recorders are compatible with Vista? I previously used DNS, and an Olympus digital recorder. I would dictate my memos into the Olympus and transfer the sound file to my computer, and then I could convert the sound file to text in Microsoft Word. Can I do it the same way with Vista (Ultimate)?

Hi, I have just come back from holiday and switched my pc on and have found that everytime I connect to the internet I get disconnected after 30 secs. I am connect to a cable modem and have spoken to the provider and they inform me that everything is okay at their end. The only way to get reconnected so that I can look at sites is to repair the local connection but this again only allows me upto 30 secs internet time. During this my local connection still shows me as connected to my provider. Can anyone please help?

Is there any method (or 3rd party software) which will add specific shortcuts to the windows / office / other application OPEN/SAVE dialogue? It would save a lot of time navigating. KC

I am getting the message "The operation was cancelled due to an internal error". I am using Disk Manager. I know I am using an unused drive letter. There are no entries in the Event logs to help me with this problem. Windows 2003 SP2 on VMWare with disk in an IBM DS4500 SAN.

Avast has just updated its x64 antivirus. Here's the changelog: * fixed a problem in the boot-time scanner (prevents the intermittent "Unhandled Exception" errors) * added Inno Setup unpacker * speed optimization of certain operations (e.g. scanning of emails in the Internet Mail provider) * Standard Shield: fixed a memory leak (Windows NT/200/XP) * mail scanner: fix in IMAP handler (solves problems with Nortel CallPilot, for example) * Windows Vista: removed the conflict with Asus Data Security Manager * Web Shield: now scans even data returned from HTTP POST requests * speed improvements in the area selection dialog * fixed various small issues o…

I have the error "A Remote Assistance connection could not be established. You may want to check for network issues or determine if the invitation expired or was cancelled by the person who sent it." when I try to remote assistance in a LAN. I read the support on: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899862/ everything is ok, according to site. What can be a problem?

I cannot run an exe file across my network or the internet on one of my computers. All run Windows XP and all other computers can. The only difference is the one in question runs XP media center. The reason this is a problem is some sites run program that downloads and installs the product (i.e. I-News and Logitech QuickC am software). I have stopped all startup programs and all non Microsoft services in msconfig and uninstalled several programs that I thought might interfere. I think it might be a registry value but do not know where to look. Any help would be appreciated. Sam Roe

Running XP Home, SP2, have two login ids, both admin rights and both with passwords. Intermittently, after logging out of id2, I cannot then log back in to either id1 or id2. On the login screen when I click either name the cursor does not appear in the password box and I cannot type anything in there. The only option is to click on shutdown and then restart the PC. All the works fine until the next time. Happens every few days, but can't see any pattern to it. This happened once before back on SP1, but I rebuilt to SP2 earlier this year and it's all been working ok until a few weeks ago. Any ideas? Thanks, David.

-I recently discovered my copy of XP was illegal, so I ordered the WGA-kit. After installing it I realized all my music (My whole record collection) and all shared pictures and videos were gone. I had them put in shared documents and shared the shared documents folder on my small home network. Are all files deleted? It was 13 Gb or so containing music, photos and videos. I've tried different undelete programs, and managed to recover files and settings from personal user accounts, but everything from the All Users account and My Network Places seems to be gone. Are the files stored in any hidden folder or so? Is there any way I can recover the files? Yes, I kno…

Hello there everyone just want to get some ramifications of 32 bit applications specifically "Scribe Light" integration software running on Windows 2003 64bit server I have not loaded it yet but if anyone has already tried this I would like to no how it worked. Also are there other issues I should consider loading 32bit applications on windows 2003 server x64? Will 32bit applications run without affecting the other applications running in 64bit mode?
