I turned off Narrator at logon!
by Guest Canada2000- 0 replies

I thought I would send this post, as I had to dig to find this in the posts... Open <Control Panel>, <Ease of Access Center>. Then under where it says "Explore all settings" click on <Use the computer without a display> and that's where you will find the checkbox for "Turn on Narrator". Clearly make sure that box is un-checked. That thing was driving me crazy. I can see why Microsoft put this in the "blindness" area, but it is not particularly intuitive to find the Narrator setting.

Update changed account settings?
by Guest Eric- 0 replies

When I logged into my Vista administrator account this morning all settings (desktop, favorites, documents, etc) are back to the defaults when I first installed Vista. The files that normally are used are still on the hard drive. My account is still passworded and the password has not changed. Any ideas on why the desktop and other settings are not being read correctly and how to reset this to work properly? I have not changed any of the settings and am the only non-restricted account on the computer. TIA

Possible your software is damaging, then try 'recover DBX file' (http://www.oemailrecovery.com/restore-outlook-express.html), recover for example, in case of a serious computer failure the Inbox folder became unreadable, and you see that the message list is empty, restore Microsoft Outlook (not Oulook Express) messages, contacts, notes, journals and so. -- zlatan24 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ zlatan24's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=23569 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=447352 http://forums.techarena.in

HELP I want to clean out my present network settings
by Guest timO'- 0 replies

I want to lean out the network settings in our two XP pro computers and start over. Both machines (#1 & #2 ) are connected to a DI-DO4 which is fed by the WESTELL DSL router. The Internet connections are fine for both machines. And both are on the 'network', but neither was intentionally designated as a server. It's supposed to be peer to peer. The printer is an HP930c (USB) connected to #2. I have pdf Factorypro and Fineprint installed on #1. We've gone through some hardware changes, and I have not attempted to use the printer for quite a while, until yesterday. When I attempted to print using Word, the HP 930 is not among the choices. I tried to configu…

First it was China. Now India and Brazil. The rout of Microsoft's Open Office XML (OOXML) standardization efforts is now essentially complete. When the world's fastest growing economies reject Microsoft, Microsoft has a problem. What am I talking about? I'm talking about India's and Brazil's separate rejections of Microsoft's attempts to standardize its Open Office XML. Microsoft is holding out hope that if it resolves all 200 of India's complaints with its submission, it will have OOXML approved. Yes, but this largely misses the point. ... Link To Original Article

The unfortunate thing about writing all your thoughts down in a blog is that it makes it very clear just how wrong I can be sometimes. My "code" is online, for everyone to see, analyze, and critique. And critique you do. :-) A case in point is my fulminations earlier Thursday on XenSource and its alleged abandonment of the Xen project. John Vigeant, a friend from my Novell days and XenSource's director of Business Development, kindly swatted me in an e-mail for errors in my post. Witness my sackcloth and ashes (with John's permission--he must have some perverse pleasure in seeing me don this hairshirt :-): ... Link To Original Article
