2003 Server Network with PCs running XP: When using 2300 PCL 5e and 6 drivers we have a weird format issue. All pages in document (Word/Excel/Word Pad or any other) will be printed on one page... Looks like a bunch of transparencies layered on top of each other...any help or suggestions of what might be causing this would be great... thanks

Hello I have a user that logs onto a workstation and he is the only one getting DEP errors. It occurs in Internet Explorer and Explorer. So I decided I would go into the Data Execution Prevention settings and selected "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:" In this exception list I have iexplorer.exe and explorer.exe The user continues to receive DEP errors on explorer.exe So I am wondering if there is something else I have to add to the exception list so that explorer.exe does not crash. Or does this exception list just not work? TIA

Hello I have a colleague that is having problems with a workstation. Several other people are using this workstation but are not getting the problems he is getting. I have resolved to remove his local profile entirely from the PC and start his profile from scratch. The workstation is on a domain and he logs in with his domain ID. What I was going to do is log on with the local admin account and remove his profile. However, often enough when removing something in Windows there are a few things left behind. I want to totally wipe out his local account. Can someone tell me the best way to do this or point me to a website with the steps. The usual way I do it …

My PC occasionally doesn't recover properly from standby, so I've been experimenting with hibernation instead. Hello Everybody, First, I checked out the archives but could find nothing on this particular problem; thus, I would be grateful for any help on the following problem: I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I reinstalled a Kensington Wireless Mouse with accompanying USB receiver. When I moved the receiver to another port, the mouse icon (please excuse the lack of specific terminology) then added the following icons < <> > (which are solid black). I have a pencil in hand icon. Directly underneath it is this black triangle pointing right, a black diamond, and then a black triangle pointing right. I uninstalled the kensington drivers and the problem s…

Hi, I'm having a problem in Vista that has has already been addressed in XP. The help and support module is being stopped by DEP. Of course when it tries to analyze the problem it is also stopped by DEP. It is very frustrating. I tried to apply the same fix as XP to adjust my DEP allowable programs but I can't find the the program file to allow in visa Home premium. The acer rep say to roll back with system restore. I'm not sure. Any advice ? -- Phil

I'm getting a new desktop in the near future and been searching for a sound card that works well with vista. I need 1 that has all the digital inputs/outputs spdif, etc. I was looking at the Soundblaster X- FI Elite pro, but read that it doesn't work well with Vista...I did notice that they had recently released new Vista drivers. I like this card because of the external breakout box. Hope someone can give me some help here. Thanks in advance.

Twice on my system I have had the default security of root C: and thus all subdirectories under it, change to Everyone - Full Control. I noticed the change after some programs began acting strangely. I then reset the root to the default security back and propagated it through all the subdirectories. All seems to be ok again, but this is the second time and I know I didn't go into the drive properties and change the drive security permissions. I have scanned my system with both AV and spyware scanners, but have come up empty. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this to happen? I am running XP Pro SP2 with all updates applied, running on a 2003 Server …

I reinstalled the OEM Vista on my Gateway laptop and there was Microsoft Userinit and explorer in msconfig. Now these are not in msconfig startup but are in Defender startup. Is this normal? Also, the enable/disable buttons are greyed out even though I clicked 'show for all users'.
