We have a modem dial-up connection to an external customer that remains stuck in the 'disconnecting' state after a dial-up session. To get around this I created a second connection to the same number which is fine until I attempt to disconnect that new connection - it then goes into the disconnecting 'state' and the original connection then reverts to the good 'disconnected' state. Our automated apps depend on a named dial-up connection so right now I'm doing a lot of connection renaming just to keep the apps happy. Any ideas on what the problem may be and also how do you purge dial-ups that are in the disconnecting state (if possible)? BTW - This connection wor…

Hi I am looking at the best way of achieving this. I have read the ubiqutious KB on Moving Certification Authority but am a little confused, do you have to move it to a server with the same name? I basically have 2 servers, lets call them ISP-02 and LOCATION-2003 Currently our CA is on ISP-02 at our ISP in there managed hosting on our VPN network, we want to remove this server ultimately and move the CA role onto LOCATION-2003 that is in one of our offices. What is the best option, reading the KB on moving CA's but this can't understand if you have to restore onto a server with the same name which I can't do. When using the media button to decrease/increase my volume, a little window comes up with a bar indicating up or down. I want to be able to drag it to a different part of the desktop and have it stay there. Just how do I go about doing that? I looked on Brinks site and couldn't find anything. Shawn, can you help? When I try to start this Service which is set to 'automatic' I get: "Windows could not start the Windows Event Log service on Local Computer. Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider." There is a dependency for Messenger Sharing Folders USN Journal Reader service but that would not start either: "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Messenger Sharing shows a dependency for Windows EventLog so there is a loop of each one requiring the other to be running. Hi, I wonder if anybody could help me. I've recently built a new server to replace an old Domain Controller (ROSEWOODSOLUIO) with a new one (RSNET). My plan was then to migrate the machines one at a time manually as there are only 5 or 6. The installation all worked fine, so I created an account for myself in the new domain (RSNET\ptumelty) and started to move machines over. The first machine to move over was my development workstation which is a Vista box. Just started having a problem with the CMD command. When I use START MENU, RUN, CMD the window appears, then just sits there with the cursor flashing. Can't type anything into it at all. I can exit it as usual. Just cant enter enything. If I navigate all the menus, and use the dos box that works fine. Any ideas? Thanks Mike

How do I print my appointments, IN FULL, in the day box, when I print out a monthly calendar. When you print the calendar, only a few words of the appointment are shown. Example, when the appointment says, "Stay at Ramada Inn-Cleveland-7/30/2007", only "Stay at Ramada" (only part of the text) will be printed. I want ALL the text to print. Other calendars allow you to enter text in the day box, and then prints accordingly. I don't see any way to do this. Is there? thanks, ciscool13

for about 2 months my wife and I where running vista enterprise and loved it, but it was only the 90 day trial. I finally installed my ultimate "clean install" on both pc's my wife and I have the same pc's w/ 3.46 pentium 2gig memory and 80 gig HD and I notice the ultimate is running slower than the enterprise. is there anything that you guys can think of for me to check to speed it up? I ran my regcure, regvac and system mechanic 7 and we both notice slowness, when opening programs, installing or just starting up and it my startup I only have the following. win defender, avg pro 7.5, sidebare and logmein.

Pinging finds the conneciton in a nanosecond. Closing and reopening the program reconnects and solves the problem until the refresh occurs. Using XP Professional SP2. What am I missing?????

I wanted to find out if anyone knows of a way to limit the time spent using MSN. I have bought my teenage daughter a laptop which she now uses in her bedroom. I want to give her as much freedom and trust as I can but time ebbs away when chatting to her friends. I have installed Symantec Norton 360 to help with this but neither 360 nor Vista allows me to limit the time spent using MSN. I have used Vista Parental Controls to allow a sensible time limit but this gives 5 hours of access when I would like to restrict MSN time to 2 hours per day. I recently installed a Windows security patches (KB 933360), and shortly thereafter noticed these icons appearing in the system tray, from a few to a few dozen. If I mouse-over the tray, they all disappear. I don't appear to be losing my network connection in the first place, but I can't say for sure if there isn't an intermittent problem. Has anyone seen this issue? I don't know if the security patch is related to the problem, but I had not installed any other software recently. Thanks. Dan

The system used to show unit "A:" every time I plugged the driver into a socket, until now. When I check "Windows Explorer" the only unit that is inexistent is the already mentioned. However, if I check the "System Information window > Components > Store > Unities", there it is. It also appears in the "Drives Administrator > Diskette > SONY USB-FDU USB Device." I have done everything unimaginable from plug and unplug the physical unit to uninstall and reinstall all and every USB software drivers. I shall inform that when I enter to Linux --which shares my laptop with Windows XP-- it works just Ok. -- Al

We have sold 2 new computers in which were supposed to come with Microsoft Office 2007 installed on them but for some reason it wasn't included in the quote and we didn't see it when we built it and installed the software. My question is now that it has been a month since the sale of the machine can we bring the machine back and install Office 2007 with the OPK master kit still?
