What is a setting in 2003 server to disable prompting for username and password ? When starting a remote connection directly from client (XP), like this: mstsc.exe test.rdp, password is not asked, but if command is started remotely from server like this: psexec.exe \\10.10.10.10.3 -s -u user1 -p user1 -I -d mstsc.exe test.rdp, everything works ok, but password is allways prompted.

Lsass Error at Startup
by Guest Dreiber- 0 replies
For the past few reboots, I have been receiving an error that says lsass failed to start. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and haven't had any problems before. There is also no error number, and it doesn't say lsass.exe, it only says lsass failed to start with an ok button. I looked around the net and found that it could be a virus, however Nod32 hasn't picked it up, and I have only seen the virus in XP, not in Vista. Anyone help would be greatly appreciated.

by Guest Michael Gerbasio- 0 replies

Hi, I don't know anything about pki keys or certificates and could really use some help. I have a WinXP system running so I'm sure I have the correct certificate. We use Checkpoint VPN-1 to access our corporate servers remotely. We are allowed to run this on our home PCs but we can't get tech support for home. I upgraded to Windows Vista and I'm having a really hard time getting this to work. I have the VPN-1 client that runs on Vista and that's working. I guess my first probem is I'd like to delete a pki key I installed. I tried deleting it with certmgr but when I try and import a new key it tells me the profile exists. When I go to the pki management…

My Documents redirection and Office
by Guest Robert- 0 replies

Hi We have a farm of W2K Terminal Servers. A Group Policy on the OU that contains the Servers redirects "My Documents" from teh profile to a UNC path, based on security membership. This works without any problems. We have discovered that if the Office apps are't tailored for each user when their account is created, then the default locatin for documents (eg Word files) is the "My Documents" withing the profile. This also applies to auto-saved files, etc. We have tried loading the .adm files for Office into Active Directory to set these on a test OU that contains a few user accounts, but have found that if we specify "My Documents" as the file location…

by Guest michaelk- 0 replies

Hello, I'm from Germany and I got a serious problem after installing the updates from August, 22, 2007. After installing the updates, my Outlook (2003) as part of Office 2003 Small Business Edition, shows a strange behaviour: Outlook cannot open Word-documents attached to the mails. The message sounds as follows: There's an error during opening the file. Please try one of the following steps: Make sure you have enough rights to open the file! Is there enough diskspace? Open the file with recovery-textconverter. Well I'm logged in as administrator. The disk has enough space (nearly 50% used). Opening the file with the recovery-textconverter option …

by Guest Harry- 0 replies

I am the sole user of my pc, yet when I want to back up my Microsoft Money data file to my second hd, Vista blocks that because I do nat have adminstrative rights. I have tried to overcome this by disabling UAC, but in doing so I get other warnings that my pc is at risk. Question: Is there an easy way for me to obtain these administrative rights, being the sole owner/user of my computer. (I use Vista Business)

Client Certificates - "Page cannot be displayed" error
by Guest Roman- 0 replies
Hi there, I've got a curious problem regarding client certificates. I'm using Windows 2003 Server Certificate Authority client certificates for a web application to limit access to a web application. I've also created the client certificates from the standard 'User' certificate template. The problem I've got is that for a while all users could use the app fine with these certificates in place, however over the past month or two only some users report that they can't get into the web application and they get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error message (client machines are Windows XP tablet edition running IE 6 SP2). I've checked their machines and the…

I have had something similiar to that happen to my flash drive and I never did figure out what caused it. It would have several files, with file sizes that were obviously too big to be on the drive, that could not be erased or deleted. Then it would quickly get to the point where no computer could read the flash drive at all. I am a computer tech and plug that thing into allot of computers at work, to fix spyware and virus problems, and I am sur…

Since I haven't posted for a while... I am dual-booting Vista (on C drive) and XP Pro (on D) Pentium D, 3.2Ghz Dual processor, 2Gb ram. 3 physical IDE hard drives. First drive is partioned as C, D, E, F, and G). Second and third drives are H and I respectively and are for storage only. About two weeks ago, I replaced the third drive with a larger WD 320Gb drive. XP went thru it's Found New Hardware thing, asid it was successfully installed and never even required a reboot. Since I rarely use Vista (don't have time to wait on everything), I never gave it a thought. Tonight I had a little spare time on my hands, so I decided to boot into Vista and play around …

HUGE fonts/pictures/icons after changes
by Guest ALP- 0 replies

Often, after changes to my computer, (like installing updates, turning on or off User Account Controls, etc.), when I re-boot my computer all the words, pictures, icons, etc., on the screen are HUGE. Everything is blown up, as if I set the resolution to 200% or more!! Usually, if I restart, it goes back to normal. This happens quite often. Anyone else out there experience this? Why is this happening? Thank alot!

Patches installed during shutdown
by Guest Richard Fangnail- 0 replies

I just received update 933360 through Autoupdates. The yellow shield near the clock as usual and I wasn't sure why I was getting updated. Nothing happened for 10-15 minutes and then it said it would install the patch during shutdown, which it did. I understand this is because I shut down after the loading and before the installing of the update. It's only installed updates this way one time before. My autoupdate time is set for 3AM. Why did it install that way?

Vista Machine freezes with mouse activity
by Guest MoosieAZ- 0 replies

My environment is Vista Ultimate running on an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard with an E6600 Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of DDR2-PC6400 [800] memory the graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro-512MB. The situation is that the machine will freeze at different times [requiring a hard shutdown] most noticeably when I have double clicked on something. At first I suspected my Microsoft Desktop Elite mouse/keyboard for Bluetooth because the mouse would move erratically at times. I eliminated the Bluetooth devices [and dongle] and switched to a PS/2 keyboard and a USB wheel mouse. At first the problem seemed to go away, but that was misleading it has returned …
