Hi All, I have a customer with XP-Pro,sp2 that gets a print spooler error and looses all her printers from her control panel, printers window. To fix her problem, I erased all the files (they were considerable) from her C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS directory. Then, restarted the print spooler in services. Problem: worked from two days, now she is back to her spooler errors again. (Sorry, I don't remember the error, just that it was something about the print spooler being crashed.) Anyone have any suggestions as to how to permanently fix her problem? I was thinking of erasing her spool cache again and reinstalling he…

Anyone know of a good small utility to adjust GAMMA in Vista Ultimate? I tried Gamma Panel and Quickgamma, they're old and buggy in Vista, works better in XP. Both do not automatically start up with the saved settings, AND turn off by itself after you manually restart them. Intel's video driver only allows you to adjust contrast and brightness as stupid as it sounds. I have Intel 945GM chipset on my Sony laptop and latest drivers as of today .. This is mainly pathetic by far on Intel's side. The brainless reasoning behind NOT allowing you to adjust gamma below 1.0 on their software/driver I'll never figure out.

After a MS patch tuesday update...I get this error message every time I attempt to save or retreive a file. "Unable to create an instance of required object: FileProxy" I have been unable to locate any info in MS KB. -- thanks, glr

I was able to get two of the files to register (perhaps they already were: wuweb.dll & MSXML3.dll) but this did fix the problem, much thanks! Is anyone else running into having issues all of a sudden in Windows XP when use an Okidata Microline printer, I have had two customers today all that prints out is jiberish, from a test page or text doc. or in my case from a Crystal Reports enviroment?? All of the normal suspects were checked and still the same, so I am now looking at the latest windows update to see if anything in there would affect the printers, so any help on this would be a great help/

Ok guys just got up and running with Vista but i need active x for firefox as some pages will not open any help please dave

Anyone else run into this? I'm running Vista x64.. After awhile, say a week.. or maybe just 1 day.. frequently when i have say 4 explorer windows opened and grouped in the task bar.. I can click on the group, but attempts to click on an individual explorer session fail.. its not just explorer's that have been minimized, pretty much anything that has more than 1 item (grouped) wont let you click on any of the items. Only fix is a reboot. Cheers

It would seem that many users have this problem in one form or another and that there seems to be a varied qty of solutions. The simple problem is that autoplay under vista just does not work well. We have two new systems, one laptop and one desktop both running vista home premium. Since the day theu were both switched on placing a media card into a card reader produces nothing. The options have been set under the autoplay options in control panel, the check box is ticked and saved yet neither system autoplays when a media card, CD, DVD, USB stick or anything is plugged in. I am having real problems with Windows update with one update stuck and I cannot work out what it is Windows Vista Home Premium from Dell oem I cannot do a backup, restore, MMC and print spooling are not working. I've installed the latest drivers I could find on HP's site. I have a restricted user account on one of the machines (not the one with the printer), and this user can't print--even Notepad is giving 'access denied' messages. This particular user only has an account on this one machine. This is a home LAN, without a domain controller or Active Directory, so this user can only log in locally on that machine (eg, he can't roam and log on other machines using domain credentials). Unable to access updates, scanner stopped working (not recognized), CD/DVD will read but not write. All problems occured at the same time, diagnostics find nothing. Have run repair with no improvement. Any suggestions?

Greetings, I have a problem with Windows Installer. I am running Vista Business, 32bit and the problem occurrs only with one program, Karen's Replicator. The program is set to load at startup and every time the computer boots up, the Windows Installer starts indicating it is prepairing to install. The installer will attempt to start several times before it quits and the program loads. Everything is fine after that. The same thing happens even if I launch it from the program short cut or exe after the computer is running. I have tried disk cleanup and deleting setup files as suggested by Replicator help.
