nice Info From The Printers Newsgroup For Vista i had a problem while back with my printer. My dad wanted to use a different driver called HP DeskJet 970C series, because of that, i wasn't able to print on xp or vista. We have co-op students working in our office and want to restrict their visits to approved web sites. Some of the websites on the available list are ones that we develop. These web sites receive graphic files such as .AI, .EPS & .PDF, which can be saved easily to the folder on the user's machines. Our problem in IE is that when we turn content on the student can not save .BMP or .JPG files to their computers. Can we receive a suggestion as how to control web access and still download our graphic files?

When I highlight a digital photo I have uploaded from my camera to my hard drive with my curser I am no longer able to right click on that photo and send its file to my cd drive to eventually burn to a cd. In fact, the cd rom associated with Windows XP no longer shows up as an option when I follow the process mentioned above. What is the solution?

How do I disable standby as the default (or override) for all users? Every time a new user logs onto a computer (Windows 2003 SBS domain), standby is enabled by default, the computer goes to sleep, & I cannot connect remotely using RDP as I normally do for remote maintenance, etc.

Hi I have XP. I am unable to access AOL Broadband through my wireless USB Azureware dongle. I get the green light on the device. But a message pops up "Acquiring Internet Access" "Limited or no connectivity." I tried to ping the gateway but it "was not reachable". Physical Address - 00-15-AF-2B-23-C2 IP address - 169.254.60.147 Subnet Mask - 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway - no entries while other computers on the network have IP Address in the range 192.168.0.* and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 When I click on Repair. I recently got a new desktop PC with Vista Home Premium. Until two days ago it was connecting to my wireless router and the internet just fine. Now it will not connect to my wireless network at all. Sometimes it shows up in the available network list and sometimes it doesn't. Every now and then it appears to be connected but then when I go to access the internet it fails. I've spoken with Verizon Internet support and HP support at length with no resolution. My HP has a USB wireless 802.11 b/g adaptor. My two older laptops (both HP) have windows XP and are connecting to my Westell router with no problem. I assume the problem is with the new computer…

Recently a problem has developed with "switch user." In the past no problems but of late the process of switching from one user to another freezes as the second user's desk top appears. The start menu does not work or any other mouse stroke. At this point the only way out appears to be to switch the PC off and start again. The only way to avoid the freeze at "switch user" is for the first user to log out completely before the second user logs in, which is causing some friction between family members! Any ideas for solving this would be great. We have XP Pro.

I think you're out of luck. It seems you need an update before it'll work. Good luck waiting for that. I am migrating from an older PC to a new Vista 64-bit Ultimate PC. In the past, the way I circumvented all the sharing issues of copying files from my old PC was to make an Acronis True Image 10 backup of the old PC. Then I'd mount that backup image on my new PC and copy files from that mounted image. It worked fine in XP but in Vista I get a "The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk" error message on every file I try to copy. It doesnt matter if the archive is local or on a network HD. It doesn't matter if the file originates in a shared directory in the mounted image. And it doesnt matter if I try to copy to a 'public…

Want to have access to my notebook running WinXP-Home from my WinXP-pro home and office computers but no one else. Currently can access my C: drive folder except Doc..&Settings folder. A helpful site said to 1.. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. To do this, follow these steps: a.. Restart your computer. Before you see the Windows XP logo, hold down the F8 key. b.. Select Safe Mode. 2.. Login in as Administrator. You'll get a warning about running in Safe Mode. Click Yes. 3.. Find the folder whose permissions you wish to change. Right click on that folder, and select Properties. 4.. Change the properties of the desired folder(s). Voila. You can now change…
