Hello, I am having major issues with my IIS and SMTP services. IIS We are running Windows 2003 Server with SP2 and Exchange Server 2003. Exchange is just running on our internal network and not used for external email. The server runs great until I start the SMTP services. Then the CPU usage bounces around from 5 to 99 percent and the memory usage goes through the roof, which bogs down the rest of the server. It won't let me stop the SMTP service and I end up rebooting the server and setting the SMTP service to manual so that it will stop. We have all Windows updates run and Antivirus updated and scanned. Any help you could provide will be greatly apprec…

* * *Updated * * * Well - it went a few days before it pulled this S**T again this afternoon. I am stumped. Boot. ini looks unremarkable, Malware scan was clean. No viruses detected . However, I did go to a U.S.Govt webpage (twilight zone theme) Chkdsk /f fixed three more entries in the Journal. I'm wondering if this is an indication of power suppy failure, or the drive controller (on Motherboard) could be stuffed. Cannot find server

I'm wondering if it's just me, or if anyone else has a problem reaching a particular page at MajorGeeks. It's: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads6.html The page appears to almost completely load, and then a Windows box pops up saying "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads6.html . Operation aborted". When I click OK to close this box, the page reverts to a "Page cannot be displayed" one. I've had this happen on two different computers. XP SP2, IE6 SP2, all patches current. -- HTH, Curt Windows Support Center http://www.aumha.org Practically Nerded,... http://dundats.mvps.org/Index.htm

I know many of the regulars here have started thinking of this in their dreams. SP1 is still far ahead and slipstreaming it into Vista for further reinstallations ain't gonna be as we were used to do it. Ok, yes, quit that crap, give it to me, no more talking, go here http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/09/05/slipstream-windows-vista-sp1-into-dvd-iso-image-by-reverse-integration/ and read all about it. Hi I have a Windows XP Home system with a screwed up network. Network is standard ethernet. I can ping by IP address but not by domain name. DNS servers are correct. But still same problem. Anyone got any ideas? Angus

SAM error
by Guest tros2112- 0 replies

I have a PC on our network that is getting Error 12288: SAM failed to write changes to the database. This is most likely due to a memory or disk-space shortage. The SAM database will be restored to an earlier state. Recent changes will be lost. Check the disk-space available and maximum pagefile size setting. But the pagefile size is set to let the system set it and she has PLENTY of drive space. She does work with rather large files. Neither HD is fragmented. The PC is set to come on around 6 am. She logs in around 8 am, and that's when the error is logged. Thanks in advance.

Event 6009 not logged from a reboot
by Guest will- 0 replies

Hi, There is a KB Article ID: 196452 that says Event 6009 is logged during every boot and indicates the operating system version, build number, service pack level, and other pertinent information about the system. Depending on your current configuration, it gives a message similar to: "Microsoft ® Windows NT 4.0 1381 Service Pack 6 Multiprocessor free". However, There were instances that Event 6009 is not logged even the machine is rebooted. What could be the possible reasons this event is not recorded to determine that the machine is rebooted? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My problem is that the Scanner and Camera Wizard no longer works as it once did. If a SD memory with picture files in it is inserted to a USB adapter then a dialogue is popped up. I click on "Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard" and OK. Then the Wizard is launched. Then NEXT, select pictures to save, NEXT. At this point The Wizard shows two field, 1. Type a name for this group of pictures and 2. Choose a place to save this group of picture. The problem happens from here on: It once was that if I enter the first field then the same name sub-folder is automatically created and is shown in the second field. The pr…
