I have the following problem: I use win2003 Server Standard ed. with MS Certificate services. Using certreq.exe I can successfully generate a certificate request that looks like this: -*Subject*: E=email@email.com CN=Some CN OU=Org Unit T=Mega Title SN=123456 O=Org. C=BE- But when I have this certificate signed by a WIN2003 Server St Ed. Certificate Server sub CA. The resulting certificate does not have the "SN=123456" field anymore included in the certificate. For some reason the CA has deleted this field from the subject. No errors occured during the Issuing in the CA mmc tool. Any idea's why? Does MS only allow certain subject fields. Any deb…

I have recently bought a new computer running windows vista home premium. I have tried to aquire the licences for previously purchased music from http://www.hmvdigital.com and continously receive the error message "The Background Intelligence Transfer Service (BITS) couldn't be started - it may be disabled. Start in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services." When checking this location the service appears to be started per its default mode. Please help as I can't play my music, which was legally purchased!

OK folks. Fresh to the meat grinder, I installed Vista. Little did I know the torment that would ensue. I thought people were exaggerating when they said how much it crashed. Well, it's still crashing, though only every hour or so instead of every 5 min, so for now that's fine... But my question involves the configuration of multiple outputs in Vista! If you recall, in XP there was a nifty section of the control panel where you could select the default output device for various things: MIDI, Audo, etc. If I set my default audio device to my USB soundcard, I could listen to the games I was playing. If I also set the default MIDI to my sound card, Media …

Hi all, I noticed that in Vista's explorer when you sit with your mouse or select with the cursor keys long enough a file (or the last one of a file list...) a yellow "balloon", (displaying size, creation date...) comes up... Since I find it extremely annoying, is there a way to get rid of it? Thank you in advance for any help you may provide... Ciao, Lupo

I have a user ABC, domain XYZ who has a customized desktop when connected in our office. Since this is a portable computer, it is used away from the office. We connect multiple machines together in the field using a switch, but the user cannot get his customized desktop since he cannot login to user ABC, domain XYZ in the field. The only way we can connect in the field is to use the login ABC and domain being the name of the local machine. Is there any way in XP to use the same user and domain combination that is used in the office, out in the field?

Hi: I'm finding some strange behaviour for the nststat command on my XP Professional PC at home. Usually, just typing netstat will display all outgoing connections (i.e. web surfing), or netstat -an will display all outgoing and listening ports. However, I've noticed lately that neither of those commands displays anything now - just a blank list. I have to use netstat -ano to get it to display the outgonig and incoming/listening ports. Anyone has any ideas what could have gone wrong? Could it be a registry/permission issue? Thanks.

We are getting the following error in the System Event Log and the laptop reboots -in most instances it happens about 1 hr to 1 1/2 after machine is turned on. It doesn't happen every day but so far it has happened 3 times tonight. I have looked around on line and everything says it's a cable to the device or the hard drive is dying. Not sure if anyone has any ideas about what I should look at to see where the problem really is.

Went to desktop, RC, properties, desktop, customize desktop, looked for the WEB TAB is it is not there (supposed to be, it is on the tower PC). Can anybody tell me how to get the WEB tab back where it belongs? TIA
