Hello, Probably anyone who read the title already knows what the problem is. But for those who dont, here is the rundown. On our network, we run a logon script every time a user logs in to the domain. This script should map all the network drives that an employee will use for their shift. So every 8 hours, a user logs out and a new user should log back on, which in theory should rerun the script and remap all the drives. The problem though is that after 3 or 4 days any user on that computer will lose all of their mappings, and a logout/login will not fix it. ONLY restarting the computer will bring back those lost maps. The drives will appear in My Compute…

I don't know if its related but I have had some spyware problems, virtumonde etc. I seem to have removed these however since then i cannot open the programs in the control panel, I can open and see the control panel, but thats it. Some other programs are requiring me to re-install them each time i want to use them, like nero, They will work but when i close it and try to re-open it, it won't work. In both situations when i double click the small hour glass next to the pointer flashes up a couple of times but thats its.

I am trying to backup my computer to a series of DVDs, but every time I try to, an error message comes up after the first disc has been burning for a couple of minutes. I think it is because the DVD burner is slightly old and does not have any new drivers. I have a 300 GB hard drive, but I am currently only using 70 GB of it. If I were to add an old 20 GB internal hard drive, would I be able to backup to that or is it too small? Basically, what I am asking is how big is the backup compared to the size of data on the computer? Is every file copied, or only a specific percentage? -- Please email me back: ArcheryMonkey75@aol.com.(donotspam)

I am currently planning a budget for the next five years and part of this budget is going to include a domain upgrade to Active Directory 2008 as well as all the appropriate licenses. I am having a difficult time finding any initial licensing info on the 2008 product line. I was hoping someone could give their two cents on the following questions. All input is appreciated. Thanks. -Has Microsoft released any updated information on 2008 licensing structure and how it relates to Server 2003? -If we already have an environment with Server 2003 DCs and 2000/XP client licenses, will we need to upgrade all CALs when we move to 2008? -It is my understanding …

I already asked this at the BCM message board, but nobody had any useful help. I thought I would try here. I have a brand new dual core 64bit AMD HP laptop running Vista Home Premium. Outlook 2003 installed fine, I downloaded all available updates, and set it up without any trouble. I then installed BCM using the disk that came with Office. I checked again for any updates. Then I tried to install BCM SP4, and it stops right off saying there was a problem with the installation. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times trying different things, but it never works. I've also installed MS SQL Server 2005, and it is running, so I know that works. …

I'm experiencing a really frustrating bug (Vista Home Premium) that will only happen occasionally, but when it does, it persists until I restart my machine. Basically what happens is it gets in this mode where it will not allow me to open another program, no matter how many times I try to open it. However, if I close an open program, whichever program that was trying to open will then open. Why is it doing this, and how can I fix it?? Thanks

Hello, I have a Windows 2003 domain with Windows XP Pro SP2 clients. One of my clients is claiming his 'Briefcase' randomly disappears and is not aware of a pattern when this happens. For example, he will create a new Briefcase and after a reboot, it will disappear from the Desktop (shortcut) & from windows explorer. Is this a known issue? Please assist. Thank you.

What good is sleep mode if I can't connect to other pc's on my network after resuming from it? I can see the other pc's on the map, but can't access them with Explorer. Grrrrr! Also, when trying to shut down after sleeping/resuming, Vista gets stuck on the shut-down screen until I force it to shut down with the power button. Double grrrr!! Anyone heard of a solution for this nonsense? Did I mention Vista is a POS? Dave

I want to deploy a webcam driver that my users can install with a standard account, not admin. How could I do that? We still use Win2000 on desktops with Win2003 servers. An open thought : I discovered that Windows installs a device without admin rights and further asking if... the device driver is properly signed and of compatible rank match with another installed device. E.g. if you plug a new USB webcam and a USB webcam is already installed using the same driver and of compatible rank match, Windows installs it. Could the registry be pre populated with a webcam driver by, say group policy deployment or login script? So that when a user plugs the we…

Hi, Practically all my users use laptops, (we are a very mobile company) and travel. To help recover from the inevitable stolen or damaged beyond repair problems this brings with it, we use roaming profiles. This brings with it three problems, which I'd hoped Microsoft would have resolved with Vista, but haven't. Our problems are thus, whilst out of the office : 1. If you user, saves an e-mail attachement to anywhere (within the users Documents folder) except on they desktop - it disappears when they next come into the office and login. 2. If a user deletes icons/files either on his desktop or in any of the documents folders, they're reappear …
