Reliability and Performance Monitor
by Guest kilik3000@gmail.com- 0 replies

It looks like the reliability data on my PC stopped being collected around 4 months ago. I went a little nuts disabling services and tasks around that time. It's probable that I disabled some back end service that the reliability monitor depends on. Anyone know what services/tasks are responsible for populating this data? -Thx

Hello there. Sorry I have to post it here coz i can't access the forums right now. Anyway, I did a reinstallation of the .NET Framwork but it said that it's already installed (both 2.0 and 3.0). So I did install the .NET Framework 3.5 Beta and it solved the problem. Thanks to you guys. Until Next time.

Permanent User Profile Hive Cleaner Solution
by Guest miketones- 0 replies

I am using User Profile Hive Cleaner in response to Event ID 1517. I like the program, but instead of keeping it I would like to solve the root problem. The essence of my problem is that I need "svchost.exe (1304) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Network\Location Awareness (0x2d4)" to release the registry when I log off. Is there a way I can do this? Thanks in advance. Mike Here are my UPHC event log entries. In my case I see this message during normal UPHC operation: Event Type: Information Event Source: UPHClean Event Category: None Event ID: 1401 Date: 9/12/2007 Time: 4:17:21 PM User: ROCGROUP\mmientus Computer: 6KX0X41 D…

Desktop Icons keep changing randomly
by Guest AlanHo- 0 replies

I have added a number of document or website link shortcut icons to my desktop - some are in folders containing a group of shortcuts. I have changed the folder and shortcut icons from the standard explorer icon to more meaningful ones stored on my hard drive as ico files. However - sometimes and for no apparent reason - certain icons randomly revert to the explorer icon. Right clicking on the desktop and selecting "Refresh" has no effect. After a reboot - the icons may - or may not - correct themselves. It is worth noting that it is only the icons I have allocated that randomly change and it is not always the same ones. Icons associated with programmes …

Severe color problem (happens to all browsers)
by Guest SergioQ- 0 replies

Ok, this is about XP, am sure, because it happens in IE as well as a freshly installed copy of Firefox. This person let her mother mess with her computer (and she did a number on the colors). Now what happens is that ANY browser will not show all colors, or navigation tabs, etc. I took a picture of both screens showing the good on the top and the bad on the bottom. Had to use a different computer to take the good picture. http://www.warptv.com/image/weirdness.jpg You can see that the grey navigation tabs on the right side do not show on the bottom version. They are there, they work, but only cause she knows they are there. After reseting IE settin…

System Center Essentials Issue

This is a strange problem here - requirements are all messed up. I need to install Microsoft System Center Essentials and it requires a couple of things. I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition. When I go to install System Center Essentials I get a "Failed" message because "ASP.NET 2.0 is required" and when I click on "More" I get "ASP.NET 2.0 is not enabled. Please refer to the documentation on how to enable ASP.NET." Ok, fine. So I figure out that I need to enable ASP.NET to work on 64 this 64-bit system. So I go to the Web Server Extensions in my IIS and Allow: "C:\WINDOWS \Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_filter.dll" then ru…

After choosing the option to 'Install files for complex scripts and right-to-left languages' and reboot the system, my machine get caught in a constant reboot cycle. The only way to resolve this is to enter safe mode and do a system restore. Has anyone seen this before. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. Thanks Tom

WinXP backup restore: The target file system does not support some the features...
by Guest FUBARinSFO- 0 replies

Hi: I've copied a set of .bkf files to another system. I'm running a test of their restorability (to a different location) and in the course of launching the restore I get the message "The target file system does not support some the features of the original file system. Some data may not be restored as a result." Both source and target system are Windows XP SP2 NTFS. The backupnn.log file (with detail) doesn't show any files skipped. The restored file structure is about the same size as the .bkf file. Where are skipped files, if any, logged? Any light you can throw on this problem would be appreciated. -- Roy Zider

I posted this in general, Performance and Maintenance as I am not sure where to post it. Sorry if I am duplicating please feel free to delete it in General and where it doesn't belong.
