This is a very cool group you have going here. I find it quite interesting how computers behave at times. Sometimes you wonder if they have a mind of their own or not. These posts are quite interesting and educational for me - I've learned a bit about the errors that can occur. Scan your computer for Errors For Free! http://errors.www-marketingpros.com

I am running Windows Vista Business, i have installed Office Communicator 2007 successfully. Aftre typing in my 'Sign- in address', 'User name ' and 'Password' I get the following message "'Cannot sign in to Communicator'. You may have entered your sign-in address, username and password incorrectly or the authentication service may not be incompatible with this version of the program". if i do this from an XP workstation it works fine, i.e. same sign-in username and password.

Hi Several times each day, I get lots of shortcuts with a wrong icon. This happens on the desktop, in folders as well in menu START. The problem can be solved for some time by killing explorer.exe and restart is using task manager. However, a few hours later that garbage is back again. How to stop this? Any idea? Kind Regards, Ruud Uphoff

I am having trouble using IIS. My problem is that I am far from an IT Pro and the only thing I want to use it for is testing my PhP scripts locally. I don't have any idea how to post the pages to my local server without having to jump through a million of those "Are You Sure?" bubbles that pop up in Vista. I want to be able to copy files to the inetpub/wwwroot directory and edit them without jumping through all these hoops, can you guys give me a hand? Oh and I tried just unchecking the "read-only" box in the directory properties page, it just changes it back the second I close the dialog box.

I have attempted to download the Office 2003 SP3 three times (at ca. 108 MB a try) from the update website. Each time the download fails when it has retrieved all the file. I have even tried to download the free-standing update exectuable (at ca. 117 MB). This was interesting, as the package was not digitally signed (unknown publisher), and when I ran it, it complained: "Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file." I have 100s of GBs free on my drive, so it must be a corrupt CAB file. Is there a known problem with this update, or must I continue to tryto download this file u…

On the Microsoft Office Outlook Calendar, when you change time zones, all of your yearly appointments (like birthdays, anniversaries) come up as 2 day appointments and not 1. Is there a way to fix this or could it be under consideration for a future update? I notified Microsoft of this last year and they assured me it would be considered. It is really a pain and something I feel time should be spent on. I like accuracy and when I change a time zone in the computer, I don't think this should have an effect on yearly appointments. -- Eric H

    1. I have noticed a lot of people, including myself have big trouble with Media Center in Vista when they upgrade from Windows XP Media Center Edition. The answers are always to do a clean install but I purchased the upgrade edition plus it would be a massive hassle. It would be ideal if we could just clean install/re-install Windows Vista applications such as Media Center. 2. How many people can read and fully understand the Windows Error Reports (Problem Details)? Am I wasting my time including these when I ask for technical support from non-Microsoft companies? Do they provide any/enough information that would help software developers identif…
