Dial up was working fine but suddenley it won't connect. It dials up, goes to authorisation and then disconnects. All I get is an error that comes up saying "Error during connection 6". I have tried reinstalling the isp, even tried a different isp but that hasn't worked. I have even changed the internal modem but that doesn't change the error. Can anyone help?

I am new to Vista and have a simple question. When sending a fax through Windows Fax and Scan, If a contact has multiple fax numbers, is there any way to select different number from the list? The program always wants to use the same number each time, and doesn't seem to want to give me the option to choose. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

When I copy files in VISTA, the progress window screen does not show up anymore. Anyway to bring that back? The copy process went ok in all times.

I am attempting to install Vista Business on a heavily upgraded HP x4000 workstation. I was about to finish the installation, and I got a STOP 0x000000EA BSOD. This is caused by a device driver, and safe mode gets me to the point where it says that it cannot finish the install in safe mode, then it reboots. Is there a way to pinpoint which device driver is the culprit? Or any way I can get this to install without dark rituals and other voodoo?

Several times now, I have been typing and my keyboard and keys, suddenly and seemingly randomly, start applications or activities that are completely unrelated. For example the "e" key opens windows explorer window. Coincidentally, the Navigator feature in windows (an accessibility tool that narrates all my typing) starts everytime, not sure what i'm typing that triggers it. I'm always surprised as I have only been typing as usual when it suddenly switches into this bizarre behaviour. However, this always happens when I connect through RDP to one particular server or... to my office PC (again, via RDP). If I close the session abruptly, and then reconnect it…

Vista Ultimate Since WMP doesn't shut down completely, I had to change the default program from WMP to Media Center. Since then, when I try to open a MPG or WMV file using a link in IE7, it takes about 1 minute for the program to appear. Setting it back to WMP (and making sure WMP is not in the process list in task manager), it opens instantly. I've tried with other video programs like Divx or Windows media player classic and got the same behavior. any ideas ?

So I've got a Vista ultimate desktop, and a ubuntu linux laptop. I also just bought a new external hard drive, and for some reason, my ubuntu laptop has no write permissions to it. I tried looking at its permissions on my vista desktop, but I can't seem to add permissions for people that aren't somehow connected to my desktop. For example, there are permissions for administrators, users, SYSTEM, and authenticated users, but they all refer to the vista desktop. How can I give my laptop write permissions to the hard drive? Or, perhaps an easier question: How do I remove all restrictions from the hard drive? please help!!! :-D thanks

Hi, hope someone can help... This morning, after a Windows update, Java stopped working in IE (version 7). Downloaded and installed Firefox but got same problem in Firefox. Tried reinstalling Java but the Java download page came up the message "We encountered an issue while trying to automatically install Java software onto your machine". So, downloaded it manually and reinstalled it (installer stated that it was already installed). Java still not working after reinstallation. Then tried running both IE and FF 'as administrator'. In both cases, Java worked. This would suggest it's permissions or something similar (perhaps UAC?). Anyway, I certainly …
