    Using Surface RT - My most frequently needed contact can not be added as a favorite. All other contacts can be favorited and unfavorited. Seems to be something wrong with this one contact but I don't see any problem with the information in the contact. I have edited and saved the contact. I'm out of ideas.     running Vista. Running Microsoft Security Essentials When I click on Windows Defender A 'box' appears stating Defender is Off. I click on the Turn on Defender then it takes ages before anything happens. Then Windows Essentials states you have not run a scan for 253 days. I start the scan but it stops after approx. 2 mins.     Hi everyone, I have recently installed Windows 8 (RTM) and noticed that it generates thumbnail cache files locally (&quotThumbs.db&quot file created in the local folder, as it used to be with Windows XP) instead of keeping the thumbnail caching features centralized as was the case with Windows Vista/7 (e.g. in the %LocalAppData%MicrosoftWindowsExplorer folder for Windows 7). Is there any way to change the thumbnail caching feature backed to a centralized fashion (e.g. by keeping some thumbcache*.db files somewhere in the user folder)? Some registry values changes, maybe?     Hey! When ever i open task scheduler it pops up an error: &quotTask SvcRestartTask: The task XML contains an unexpected node.&quot How can i fix this?     I have a projector with an HDMI input. I ran a cable from my Windows Vista pc video card from the DVI output to the HDMI input of my projector. Windows will not recognize it and the projector wont recognize that there is an output signal on the DVI port. I plugged my regular LCD monitor in the same port and it works fine. The problem is that for my regular LCD monitor i want to use the RGB connection and use the DVI for my projector. Can someone help ? View this thread

    After I open an email in my Windows Mail (Vista) then close it, the next day when I look for it the email is gone. I looked in, &quotDelete,&quot &quotOut Box,&quot etc. They have just disappeared!????? Even on the same day/time if I see the email is there after closing it, but then I click on &quotJunk Mail&quot for instance and then back to In Box the email has disappeared. When I realized this was happening I tried it 4 times with different odd ball emails and it happened everytime. View this thread

    I am having a video problem with my Sony Vaio Laptop Model VPCEB490X that I just installed Windows 8 Pro on (Core I-5, 8 GB Ram, 320 Solid State Drive, ATI Mobility Readeon 5650, upgraded from Windows 7 Pro). Video will not play except in VLC. I have tried the following programs: Cyberlink Power DVD 12 Corel WinDVD Pro 11 Corel WinDVD 10 and Nero 12. None of these programs will play either a DVD, a Bluray or video encoded as a Media Center file. Further, Media Center does not play any video either. All these programs do is play the audio.     I've been getting this error message about a duplicate name existing when I boot up. I've read the fixes for this, but what I'm wondering is.. Assuming the 'Duplicate Name' is another computer, are we linked in any way other than by name and network? I want to know if Name2 (the other) is aware of Name1 (me) as far as keystrokes, passwords, browsing history, etc.? Does the possibility exist for one name to 'spy' on the other? - I'm on a house wireless network.
