The Microsoft albatross (Credit: Microsoft) While Vista was originally touted by Microsoft as the operating system savior we've all been waiting for, it has turned out to be one of the biggest blunders in technology. With a host of issues that are inexcusable and features that are taken from the Mac OS X and Linux playbook, Microsoft has once again lost sight of what we really want. As we're more than aware, Vista Ultimate comes at a premium. For an additional $160 over the Premium SKU price, Ultimate gives you a complete backup and restore option, BitLocker Drive encryption, the ever so popular Windows Fax & Scan, and the "Ultimate Extras." But what started…

We have a server running windows server 2003 and exchange server 2003. We have 77 CAL's for each product for our users. We want to set up another server for Disaster Recovery purposes, and purchase another instance of windows server 2003 and exchange server 2003. My question is, do we have to buy another 77 CALs for each product on this new server, or can they be "transferred" over. The CAL's would only ever be used on one server at once.

Didn't work for me, same error over and over, but you were a little unclear on one thing: "The Box that you first opened the one I said not to exit from (1) all the files that are in that box must be taken frome the folder last opened and transferred to the temp folder on your desktop. (2) make sure you transfer only the files stated in the first box." First you suggest to copy ALL the files (1) later you tell only to transfer only the files stated in the first box (2). Also, what box? Frans.

Hello, I have an NT4 domain with primarily Windows 2003 Member servers, in the last few days we have experienced several issues with loss of Netbios connectivity on some servers. The first issue seemed to be related to the browse list. Servers on one VLAN disappeared from the domain browse list and could not contact a master or backup browser. Rebooting the server acting which they thought was the master browser resolved the issue and the servers all appeared in the browse list again. The second issue occured with one server, it was still available in the browse list but could not be connected to via netbios. Net view command generated a system error 6…
