DPS keeps shutting down my sidebar
by Guest Angelique- 0 replies

DPS "shuts down" my sidebar every time I try to download a new gadget. This problem started suddenly and for no apparent reason. I put "shuts down" in quotes because the sidebar actually keeps running. It just won't add a new gadget.

Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working
by Guest mjd803@yahoo.com- 0 replies

I was getting this error, followed by Windows Explorer is Restarting, almost anytime I tried to open anything in control panel with Vista Home Basic. Was setting this machine up for a friend and I made the mistake of installing the latest drivers from Intel for a DP965LT mobo with the Sigamatel 9227 Audio Codec. I had installed several things along with the audio drivers. At some point I realized I had this problem and suspected the audio drivers because some things seemed whacky relating to the Audio. To sum things up I did a restore back to prior to installing this Intel stuff amd fixed the problem. Then I started into re-installing the various drivers a…

I have the same problem as everyone else with the missing change/remove buttons. I tried the fixes listed on here about the regedit. The programs are not there. I looked in the actual program files and there are no uninstall programs. What can I do now? Thanks for the help in advance.

I was just wondering since it is now a proven fact that 128 bit cipher strength can be hacked then how come websites such as Bank of America and Citicards are still in the Stone Age and relying on only 128 bit encryption. Bank of America even has the audacity to claim it is the highest level of encryption generally available. B.S. This is totally untrue. The above 2 websites do not fully support Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox gives you 256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard protection which is needed nowadays since 128 bit cipher strength can be hacked even though it is really difficult and requires the proper tools. The surprising thing is open sour…

Error Number: 0x800CCC15
by Guest PTTC14680- 0 replies

I see that other people get this same error(s) while processing Windows Mail: Account: 'Sam RR', Server: 'pop-server.roadrunner.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15 Subject '', Account: 'Sam RR', Server: 'smtp-server.roadrunner.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15 The problem is compounded as when these errors occur, I can no longer use IE 7.0 (get 404 error) or use Yahoo or Mysapce messengers. The only workaround is to reboot my laptop and start over until the next occurence which is usually 4-5 times a day. Someone please help.

Media Center Interfering
by Guest unstable- 0 replies
I bought a Aver Media USB TV tuner for my laptop. I've installed all the drivers and software. When I open the program it tells me. "Windows Media Center may cause AVerTV malfunction To terminate ehrecvr service is recommended!!" I end the task in processes and it came back a few times but the program still says the same message when I open it again. I read that media center is integrated with vista premium (which is what i have) but is there any way to uninstall it? or disable it. Seeing as I don't use it, it's pointless having it.

Using Scanstate to transfer files back to XP
by Guest Mike.ONeal- 0 replies
I am working on Windows Vista certification and have transferred files with Windows Easy Transfer (WET) and User State Migration Tool. WET went flawlessly using a USB memory key. Using Loadstate and Scanstate was a little tricky transferrring files from XP to Vista, but finally got it done. My question is about the errors I'm getting in attempting to transfer files from Vista to XP. It's stated it's possible to do this using the switches "/i:MigSys.xml" and "/targetXP". However, I am getting an error stating that this can't be done from Vista to XP. Any help would be appreciated. -- Mike O.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having this exact same issue in a very similar environment and not having much luck resolving it elsewhere. What was the issue on your domain that you corrected to resolve this, please? Thank you. -- cameronshove ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cameronshove's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=31029 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=384736 http://forums.techarena.in

unwanted mapped drives
by Guest EHenson- 0 replies
Our office network runs on Small Business Server 2003 and our user stations are on XP Pro. We have drives R,S,T,U,V,W,X & Y mapped to the same locations on the network for each user. However, when one user logs in, some of his drives map automatically to the same location on the network. For example, he already has T:/project files mapped on his system, but at times it will automatically assign "project files" to drives M,P,Q & Z as well. Also, his login script was created using the same template as others in the office and no one else is having this problem. Any ideas on why this happens and how it can be fixed? Thanks!

mouse clicking
by Guest Lyndaleen- 0 replies
My mouse is double and triple clicking on its own. When I want to click back one page it might click two or three. So I bought a new USB / PS/2 Ativa optcal, much simpler than the previous Logitech Optical with software, and the Ativa is doing the same thing. I have recently blasted my pc and reinstalled all programs (not the Logitech Mouse). The Ativa has no software, it is Plug-N-Play. I have messed with all the mouse options as well as the file options concerning clicking, still it aggressively clicks too many times no matter how light, fast, hard or long I click the button.

(I suspect the original poster no longer cares 2 years later, but for others who find this site...) I found with XP I had to disable Fast User Switching and the XP Welcome Screen to get things to work properly when I had the same problem. (You do this in the "user accounts" control panel under "change the way users log on" or whatever.) -- roadworrier ------------------------------------------------------------------------ roadworrier's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=31028 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=30610 http://forums.techarena.in
