As soon as I try to download the up date .net framework 1.1 sp1 (KB928366) it tries to down load it on top of .net framework 1.1. The only prompt I get is "do you want to install on top of .net framework 1.1." with only two buttons either yes or cancell. I went to window/ Microsoft. net/ framework & create another folder to try & put kb928366 in there but I can't seem to get that right. I have done a disk clean up & a defragmentation but that doesn't help as well. I created a new folder in windows/ microsoft.Net/ Framework but can't seem To download it in that folder I am using windows XP home & office 2003 professional.

I recently uninstalled a printer driver. In the process the uninstaller must have removed the link for the printer control panel applet’s icon. The applet itself still works fine, it just displays a blank white page icon instead of the usual printer icon. I had a look around in the registry, but couldn’t find any links that seemed to make a difference. Perhaps someone here can tell me how to bring the printer icon back for that applet. All help and advice would be much appreciated.

I have a large number of errors comming up in device manager about "Kernel-WHEA" Some are EVENT ID 1 and come up as warning with a description of "A non-fatal hardware error occurred". The other less frequent are EVENT ID 2 and a critical icon. Can anyone tell me what these messages mean. I have spent weeks swapping out componenets, and tried a fresh install. They dont appear to have any negative impact on performance but they are worrying me and I havent really done any CPU intensive tasks recently.

I had to install the network drivers for the linksys wireless card... WRT54GX. When you install the drivers it also installes a configuration manager and wireless network monitor that you select your preferred networks and wireless security options. I noticed that the monitor is started in the start menu start programs folder. I noticed that it only installed it for my user and no other user on the machine. If you don't have it installed in your startup then when you log in to XP you won't have internet. So I put a copy in each users start up. I log out and log into another user and yep all's good. However if I fast user switch the system crashes. Any sugg…

I wanted to search for a specific file type on my computer, to do a clean up. Instead of searching the computer the search function is now trying to search the net. I decided to do a system restore (as I had just done an upgrade to windows media player 11 and suspected I might have accidentally changed something) and found that the restore function does not work. The box starts to open and then freezes -- harleybabe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ harleybabe's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=31959 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=825779 http://forums.techarena…

Have a small problem, hoping someone can help me solve it.. Did a Windows Update in August and downloaded Update for Windows Vista - KB938979. Currently using windows Vista Home Premium and OmniPass on a Fujitsu A6020. Had a problem with Vista displaying a duplicate user after the update. Was advised by Fujitsu to remove and reinstall the software. Did it, problem fixed. No more duplicate users. Now, New Problem. Before the Windows Update/Omnipass/Remove and Reinstall issues, The "Please swipe your finger" box would appear each and every time I would start up the PC, or Lock the PC, or put it in standby mode. Now, the screen just displays my user account a…

I use the Small Business Server Group a lot, but since this question pertains more to Vista, I thought I would ask here first. I have a LOT of Vista laptops in a client site all on a Workgroup. We have installed SBS 2003 and are getting ready to join them to a Domain. What way in Vista is recommended to migrate profiles? We need to migrate their local profiles to their new, Domain profiles so their docs, e-mail, etc. are in this new profile. Thanks in advance. -- Ron Anthony Quinn Chief Nerd Officer Network Nerds, LLC
