When I insert an SD Card on my Thinkpad X60, I often need to reboot before it shows up as a drive. The hotplug console recognizes that the card is inserted (it shows up as "SD Memory Card ---> Generic Volume") but no drive appears. I can stop the device, eject, and reinsert, and the same thing happens. The only way I've found to make it accessible is to reboot. I get the following error in Event Viewer: Source: sdbus Event ID: 6 The description for Event ID ( 6 ) in Source ( sdbus ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to us…

A StartUp folder is created on the Desktop when I added a short-cut icon in the StartUp area. I relocated all short-cut icons which are located above the "Programs" in the classic view, and the StartUp folder on the Desktop dissappeared. Then I restored the icons but the StartUp folder did not came back. The StartUP folder is not always created when a short-cut icon is added in that area. I wonder at what instance the StartUp folder is created. Could anyone help?

Hello, I am running XP Pro/SP2 and have been using IE 7.0 for a few months without any issues. I have a folder in the root of my main drive called TempIE4 that looks like it has most temp files in it with the ext of "log" and such except for one "dll" file. I was wondering if I need this folder or if it was safe to delete the whole thing?

This is interesting, not directly vista related... What is seamless integration of a virtual machine? I means you can have a windows application window directly on the Linux desktop, and NOT confined in the virtual machine window... therefore it reacts like a normal application. since a picture is worth 100 words see here http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1298214399&size=o as you can see the 2 OS (windows and Linux) coincide within the same desktop! Recently the fonts in the task panes for Word and Windows Movie Maker turned from blue to yellow, which is now very hard to read against the white background. I have tried changing this with the appearance control panel, but none of the options seems to work. How to I change these back? I am not sure how they changed in the first place.

Hello, I've recently set up a new system. It's using a Biostar motherboard (VIA Chipset), and running XP Pro. I've got a generic USB mouse and keyboard - Neither have drivers. I can navigate BIOS fine with the keyboard, but once Windows loads, any lights (Scroll Lock, Caps Lock, Num Lock) go out and the keyboard is unresponsive - A PS/2 keyboard works, however. I lack a USB -> PS/2 dongle right now, so I can't use a mouse - I'm forced to use mousekeys and the PS/2 keyboard. USB drivers have been installed, all USB settings in the BIOS are correct, and in device manager, all USB ports / controllers are marked as functional. The USB mouse and keyboard, …

Is there a fix for this problem? This is happening on XPSP2, Intel 82865G video chipset. This started happening after I installed the latest Google Earth. Only this screensaver is running sideways. Everything else is upright. The screensaver works correctly when I'm in the screensaver tab with little monitor showing the 3D Flying Objects with Windows Logo, this also happen when I choose Texture Flag as the object style. Thanks

Hello, When I attempt to boot up my PC with its Recovery-CD, my TFT Monitor will display a complete "blurred" (unrea- dable) screen with even the mouse cursor being displayed ....twice; ie. two arrows "side by side"! But needless to state, that no problem at all in this regard when the PC is being booted up "the normal way". So any valuable tip would be now highly appreciated... With best regards, Philippe
